We had the good fortune of connecting with Craig Sotkovsky and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Craig, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor is that I focus on my client’s potential, and how that potential can be converted into their success. I have learned to listen past the words to see what they’re not saying; I pay attention to their body language and their unconscious cues that help shape the plan of action I create for them. In this way, their success becomes my success.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I consult with start-ups and all of the principals associated with the company. I’m excited to walk into a business that is in complete disarray and start with the owners of the establishment and work my way down.

I’ve gotten to where I am today by failing forward and by continuing to take chances and always believing in myself. That has taken decades to accomplish. I do not let my failures defeat me; instead, I learn from them and carry those lessons forward so I do not make those same mistakes again.

It was definitely not easy; however, it was truly imperative to go through all the pitfalls of human behavior and self-discovery. Entrepreneurship is about who you become and what you can put up with along the road. You cannot truly know success until you have failed several times.

I learned that there is a huge difference between currency (those electronic digits), and money (your relationships), and I learned that wealth and success come down to whom you choose to have around you and from whom you draw inspiration. Your network becomes your net-worth.

I named my company From This Point Forward because from this point forward in our relationship, I have to leave you better than when I found you. So through my writings, videos, or consultations, you should leave with more value than when we first met.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite places is Stone Mountain Park; there are several trails to hike and climbing the mountain itself offers one of the best views of Metro Atlanta. the Park also offers fishing, golf, and kayaking. Little Five Points is a great place to people watch and grab a bite to eat. Ponce City Market on Ponce de Leon Ave offers a variety of eateries and shopping. Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta’s oldest public park, is also the final resting place of many of Atlanta’s most famous citizens. Decatur is a beautiful part of the city with its quaint and walkable downtown. The High Museum is a great place to enjoy beautiful artwork. The Georgia Aquarium houses hundreds of species and thousands of animals. Feast at Fogo de Chao and then enjoy an art festival or concert in Piedmont Park. Grab a drink and some food while enjoying the breathtaking views from the Sun Dial Bar and Restaurant at the top of the Westin Hotel. The Skyview Ferris Wheel is also another great option.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and daughter would lead the pack in support. They are both very accomplished in their own right, and have always given me all the love, support, and encouragement I could ever ask for. They have been my strongest support system from the beginning. They put their lives on hold while I was battling cancer, and were my rocks while I recovered.
