Meet Meka Nicole Alford: Licensed Professional Counselor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meka Nicole Alford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meka Nicole, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my ability to be authentic about who I am, life struggles, relationship concerns, my fears, and more. As a therapist I call on my clients to open up to me, to be honest, to trust me, and to actively participate in the healing process. I do my best to model that behavior in my own life. It’s important for my clients to understand that I also experience heartache, grief, relationship issues, communication issues, and more. I’m not perfect but I have tools that I have used and can share to help my clients heal, grow, and overcome just as I have. Being able to authentically connect with my clients builds rapport and establishes a trusting environment needed for healing.

My brand is me! What I feel has worked and is working to make my business successful is my ability to be authentic, genuine, and empathetic to the needs of my clients. Over the years I’ve learned that I must maintain consistency and be persistent as I work towards my business goals. Consistency increases trust and aids in building rapport with my clients. My being persistent helps me to not give up when things become tough.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in Trauma, Maternal Mental Health, Relationships, Sex Education, Infertility, Grief, and LGTBQI+. I provide therapy services in office and via telehealth. I’m also contracted with BetterHelp, Talkspace, multiple EAP programs, and Teledoc. I accept all major health insurance.

I host Sex Education Burlesque Shows that teach women and couples how to connect sexually and teaches women how to express their sexual desires. I write, produce, and direct the shows. The shows include acting, dance, and games to teach. My shows sell out to crowds of up to 150 men and women. In addition, I host these parties on a smaller scale for women looking to have a pajama or lingerie party and chit chat about sex and relationships. Women can book a party of up to 20 individual. I prepare an itinerary to include topics of their choice surrounding relationships, sex, and more. Games and wine are included in most packages.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Chase Alford-my spouse! She has been very supportive as I’ve built my business, conducted workshops, written, produced, rehearsed, and directed my Sex Education Burlesque Shows. She is the caretaker for our child when I work at night and conduct therapy sessions during the day. She is there for me when I’m sick, hungry, feeling unsafe, just need to talk, or need a hug. She’s a great support to me. She is a Master Barber and all of the excellence she demonstrates in our relationship and as a mom she demonstrates in her work as a Barber.
