We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My family had a farmers market that my sister, brother, and I grew up in and bought into after college. We all worked in the business full time for over 20 yrs til my father and mother decided to retire and the business was too much for my sister and I to take on alone as well as with an extremely high overhead, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to make a living as a family market in these times. We sold and our family and community was all devastated. Our beloved market of over 45 yrs was gone. I always knew I wanted another similar market but maybe under a little different format. With some encouragement from a lot of friends and family, as well as losing my job to Covid, we decided to open as a Pop up market.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We strive to have the best quality fruits, vegetables, and plants at an affordable price purchased as local as possible while trying to promote and support other small businesses as well. We pride ourselves in making our customers like family to us. When we reopened our spin-off market…people waited the first week in lines over a hour and a half to get their produce. No one complained, people laughed and lots even cried Bc our beloved market and quality produce was back in some form. It was quite amazing! Our customers love us and we truly love them! We want the world to know how blessed and lucky we are to be back and be a vital part of this amazing community!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely go to Marietta square for dinner and drinks. It is such an amazing lil area now. Whether it’s Two Birds Taphouse, Mac’s Chophouse, or any of the other great places on the square, we would definitely have a night out here. We can’t leave out lunch at Our Daily Bread Cafe and a late night bite at McCracken’s out on his patio with drinks by the fire. Such a gem we have here now. Now, we would have to go for a Braves game at the Battery and after have dinner at Superica and maybe drinks at Yardhouse or Sports snd Social. We would do a workout at my favorite gyms, Solcioty in Buckhead and Truckfit in Kennesaw and go for a hike up beautiful Kennesaw Mtn. Then walk around downtown Woodstock and go for a show at Madlife. We live in such a great area with so many good things to enjoy! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is to my parents and to my husband. My parents worked their whole lives and taught us about hard work and dedicating our lives to do what we know and love. I also can’t leave out my sweet hubby who worked along side of our family helping us in our family farmers market after his job building power lines and encouraged me to open up our own little market after we had sold ours. He works 50 hrs a week as a lineman building power lines and tirelessly helps me continue to build our dream of continuing the legacy of our family farmers market but in our own way!
