We had the good fortune of connecting with Imani Murray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I first started my business, there was no such thing as a work-life balance for me. I learned very quickly how real and unhealthy burnout was. It wasn’t until the pandemic, when I started taking my YouTube channel serious that I realized I needed to introduce a real balance into my life. I slowly began implementing new boundaries and it’s amazing to see the difference from now to over a year ago. Two of my main boundaries include allowing myself to take weekends off and to actually listen to my body. You may want to work nonstop but if your body is shutting down, it’ll be hard to successfully accomplish your tasks. Take a break and come back to it. Setting these boundaries has allowed me to have a very positive, less stressful work life balance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an entrepreneur and digital content creator. I have my own creative agency, Leda & Co., where we specialize in bringing your vision to life through event production, public relations and social media management. I also create travel content and share social media tips on YouTube to helps brands and businesses improve their online presence. In addition to my business and creating content for YouTube, I recently launched my merch line of tees and crewnecks. I’m so excited to see where things take me. It definitely hasn’t been easy but if it was easy everyone would do it, right?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Everyone that knows me knows I love to eat, and I love a good vibe, so I’ll make sure to include some good food spots in the itinerary. But first to start our morning off right, I would take my best friend for a nice little walk in Piedmont Park. Then we’d continue the day at a local brunch spot – probably Lily’s in Buckhead. We’ll then head to TopGolf in Midtown – one of my favorite places to go. It’s a cute and fun place to go with friends, your significant other, and family. From the morning walk to the golfing, we’ll more than likely be tired, so we’ll order takeout from Slutty Vegan for a late dinner and call it a night.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to Ms. Yvette, as she is affectionately known, but better known as Yvette Noel-Schure. Ms. Yvette is Beyonce’s publicist who I met during an event for BET Weekend in Los Angeles a couple years back. While the conversation was brief, her words and amazing energy gave me the encouragement I needed to take my business and craft to the next level. A few months later, we crossed paths at an event she was hosting, and I was able to share with her how much that conversation helped me. I am not someone who she knows, but during each of my brief encounters with her she was always very supportive. I know many other people have had similar experiences with her where they were encouraged by her to step out on faith. So, shoutout to Ms. Yvette!
