We had the good fortune of connecting with YaGass Sey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi YaGass, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that of someone who always pursued their passion to the fullest, whether it made me a million dollars or $3. I want people to remember me as happy, unique, and loving what I do; as long as those three things are aligned then my legacy is fulfilled.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nowadays it’s difficult to be labeled as one thing. You essentially have to be a jack of all trades until one sticks or makes you the most money. My interview and styling business started as just something I was good at, talking to people and shopping. I never intended for these to be my passions or my “money makers.” But as I started taking my passions more seriously, the money followed. Doing something you love is never difficult if the love behind the work is always there, however one thing that sometimes provided a challenge for me is making those genuine long-term relationships you need to sustain in this ever-evolving industry. I have always had a go with the flow personality but I learned to let that roll over to my professional encounters as well and not to force any relationship. I always want people to naturally gravitate towards my work and personality which in turn will create those long-lasting relationships and returning customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I LOVE day and nightlife in Atlanta. You can catch me outside on a sunny Tuesday laying on a blanket eating some Barria tacos in Piedmont Park. Wednesday I might enjoy a nice stroll on the beltline or if I’m lucky find a fully charged scooter to ride around. Thursday night you can find me at HIDE enjoying some good music and wings to start the night, But Friday thru Sunday is first come first serve activities. I mentioned before I had a go with the flow attitude but it truly comes out on the weekends with friends. We could end up anywhere from Lucca, Memphis smokehouse, to magic city, or another broken egg. It depends on the weather and the vibes for the day. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to my family for always being the backbone and support system to my crazy ideas and side hustles whether she agreed with me or not. I also want to shout out to my business partner Melody Calvert for always being the forward-thinking innovator & paperwork behind the success. She has always pushed and motivated me to take the next step in success and made sure all of the behind-the-scenes work was aligned so that we could achieve the maximum benefit every time.
