We had the good fortune of connecting with Tye Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tye, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
There are plenty of times that I contemplate whether or not I should give up or keep going. The one thing that keeps me going is the satisfaction of my customers. There are a lot of companies out there making products and not open about what goes into them. I consider myself to be very open about what my customers are buying. I always put myself into the shoes of a customer and think, “what would I, as a customer, want if I was buying this product?” I often get reviews and I see good feedback and appreciation for the products that they have purchased. This shows me that I am producing quality products that satisfy my customers. People gain the confidence to order more and more from me, which reassures me that I should not give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On the first day, we’d do something simple, because it’s their first day there and I don’t want to overwhelm them. We would grab some wings from American Deli and a peach drink of course, and then take the speaker from the house and have a picnic in Piedmont Park. Day two, it would be time to have some fun. We would go to Top Golf. There, we can have it all. They have drinks, food, fun, and most importantly, golf! Once day three comes, I would want to do something fun, but simple. We would go to Cirque Daiquiri Bar and Grill, because who doesn’t love a good drink. We’d enjoy some good food, listen to music, and be in good spirits. On the fourth day, we would go shopping at the infamous Lenox Mall, because if you come to Atlanta, you’ve got to go to Lenox. Day five, it’s time for them to get in go-home mode. We’d have an intimate gathering with a few of my friends and just enjoy the night. I’m a very simple person who enjoys the little things. I don’t really care to be in the mix all the time, but I do know how to have fun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my little sister Dennaisjah. She has been extremely helpful to me over the years. I often call her my assistant because she helps with everything from making orders, making store runs, letting me know when we are low on materials, helping with prepping my ingredients for orders, and helping set up and break down events. She plays a major role in keeping me sane when it comes to my busy schedule, including balancing school and my business. I very much appreciate everything she does for me even if I don’t say it enough.
