We had the good fortune of connecting with Khadijah Page and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khadijah, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Initially, I was a braider. As a young girl, I’d braid hair at school, in my neighborhood, and anywhere I could. Once I decided to attend Paul Mitchell, I developed a love for coloring and natural hair. That love turned into a desire to acquire my own salon so that I could do what I love while supplying many beautiful women with hair care and styling. As I know, every woman loves to feel beautiful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My specialty is vibrant coloring while maintaining healthy hair. I’m am proud that I am able to listen to my clients requests and bring their visions to life. This road to success was not easy and came with many long days and sleepless nights as I worked tirelessly to find myself in the world of hair. I overcame every obstacle by never giving up when I failed, but instead finding another route to have and become everything I envisioned. I’ve learned that nothing worth having is easy to get. It takes hard work and dedication. My story isn’t really much different than many other entrepreneurs, but I’d hope that my story inspires someone to step out on faith and chase their dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My friends and I frequent Yo Mamas or Southern Kitchen Bar for brunch. For lunch or dinner I’d suggest Flemings, J. Alexander, Papadeauxs, or any restaurant in the Downtown area. Nightlife options include Sleek Sports Bar, Hush Lounge, Plum Bar, or The Vault Lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s not only one person I can think of. I’d like to shout out the people who have supported me in all of my endeavors. To God first, then my family, my closest friends, and most importantly my clients….without these I wouldn’t be who I am.
