We had the good fortune of connecting with Yucca Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yucca, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Yucca Harris is an Atlanta native and have always had a passion for the fashion and beauty industry. She was introduced to the hair industry at the age of 16 as a shampoo technician. She shampoo assisted for 2 1/2 years, thereafter; She went to pursue the corporate world for the next 15 years. After major layoff and down sizing, she left corporate as a Claims Examiner.

In 2010, Yucca decided to follow in her best friend’s foot steps. When the opportunity presented it self. Yucca began working at several salons, in the Atlanta Metro Area. She worked as general manager which led her to become a salon consultant. She has traveled major cities attended training, educational classes, boot camps and major trade shows. A Fashion and Hair Model, Yucca has been featured in several hair magazines such as Hotlanta, Modern Salon, Passion International Hair Magazine and Sophisticate’s Black Hair Magazine.

After the tragic loss and sudden death of her best friend. She have written and self published her first book title; The Untold Story Of Nikki Whitehead; Torn 2 Pieces. Yucca has been televised on Dateline with Keith Morrison, Dr. Phil, Nancy Grace, and Jane Velez’s-Mitchell. She knows first hand the impact of losing a loved one due to domestic or family violence. Yucca continues to use her platform to inspire and work with families who may endured the similar struggles her best friend faced.

The Untold Story Of Nikki Whitehead: Torn 2 Pieces By Yucca Harris; Inspired By A True Story.

In her book, Yucca tells the untold story of her best friend, Nikki Whitehead, who was found dead in the bathtub of her boyfriend’s house. Chilling events ensue which led to people looking at Nikki’s sudden and tragic passing as a murder mystery.

Due to the sudden death of her best friend, Yucca knows firsthand the impact of losing a loved one due to domestic or family violence. She continues to use her platform to work with families who have endured similar struggles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite Spots in the city, The Garden Room Atlanta is a whole vibe. This place is one-of-a-kind destination to explore. Great food, cocktails and the ambiance is to rave about. In the mood for Vietnamese cuisine- Le Colonial is the perfect place and setting for a girls night out. Enjoying an exotic cocktail in an enclosed terrace overlooking Buckhead Avenue. Retail shopping this where is at Buckhead Village District (formerly The Shops Buckhead Atlanta). There’s nothing like splurging on a pair of Christian Louboutin or just window shopping at Hermès. Struggling to stay in shape, cycling and rollerblading is a start at the beltline. There is also tons of eatery along the way. The James Room is along the beltline and is a swanky place. This place is 2 in one. A cafe storefront with a secret door that leads you and your girls to the lounge. My workout regime includes a morning workout at The Mayweather Boxing and Fitness Center and yoga at Alt Kua.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

First, I would like to give honor and praise to The Almighty God I serve. He has given me the power and strength to be a living testimony. He has given me the ability to share my story to the world and lord knows it hasn’t been easy.

Thanks to my family, church members and friends. You all know who you are. I would like to give thanks to any and everyone I’ve encountered over the years for being that listening ear.

Thanks to my daughter and son in law, you guys really brought my vision to life. You did an amazing job with the illustration of the book, putting the icing on the cake. My husband and the love of my life was definitely a big help! _ love you!

I’m forever grateful for the two guardian angels that watches over me-My Mom and my Bestie. They not only watches over me but make their presences known on a daily basis!
