We had the good fortune of connecting with Leel Wan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leel, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Im originally from Broward County Florida. I grew up with humble beginnings. One of the biggest things I took from my upbringing was resourcefulness. From an early age making due with what was around the house. My cousins and I would make mini movies on this toy camera called Digital Blue. This had a major impact on who I am to this day.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Im a full-time Cinematographer in Atlanta, Ga and what sets me apart from others is my eye. I have an eye for making basic scenes exude emotions and intensity. Im most proud of all the skills I have collected over the years. So, I first started out as an audio engineer and music producer. I had many clients inquire about videos but I didn’t shoot at the time. Fast forward, the demand for videos was rapidly on the rise. I saw this as an opportunity to expand into new territory. I got to where I am by being consistent, personable and and constantly learning. By no means was this path easy and I still have a long way to go! Most of the challenges are psychological for me. I had to develop a think skin for criticism and critique and be able to use what they told me as a tool to be greater than I was the day before. One thing I would want people to recognize about my brand is, its a brand devoted to seeing people push their limits and create amazing creative content in the process!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the city of Atlanta and all it has to offer especially its creative dining. I like to eat, a few places I would take a friend are: Tasilli’s Raw Reality, Jamrock jamaican food, and King Seafood. If my friends stayed for a week id have them sample some food places, Take them to the country side to site see, and definitely let them experience the night life like, Magic City, The Gold Room, and Escobar.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So, over the years doing what I do I meet alot of people some people become clients, business partners, and even life long friends. I want to dedicate a Shoutout to one of the most amazing talent managers you’ll ever meet. Deishia Ling had provided me with so many viable opportunities that have helped propel my career forward as well as one of my biggest supporters. I can honestly say had I not met Deishia I have no idea where my career would be right now.
