We had the good fortune of connecting with Honey AR and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Honey, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursue a creative career because I refuse to be unhappy doing something I don’t love. I’ve always been a creative kid and the goal is to be able to do what I love and get paid for it so work never feels like work.” I just had to fix a few words! And for the other fix in the second question I said my EP was dropping April 30th but I would just like to change that to just say dropping in May, if you don’t mind! And thank you so much!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m mostly excited about my debut EP that’s coming oh so soon, April 30th is the official release and I couldn’t be more happy about the work that’s currently being put in to make sure we execute successfully. I started recording songs with my friends equipment in my closet a few years ago and the music I was putting out was starting to get recognized, my peers were enjoying it and that quickly Transpired to getting spins in the club and getting invited to writing sessions and now being able to get paid to write music for other people. I wouldn’t say it was easy, in the beginning there was a lot of sending music to execs and not getting many responses at first until I started getting better, it was a lot of long hours in the studio and sleepless nights involved and some
Days there still is. I’m still at the beginning right now, I’ve just finally mastered my sound and found my voice with the music so now the opportunities are more solid than before. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way are to NEVER sign a contract without a lawyer present lol and that’s a story for another day. Just know I’ve learned my lesson with bad contracts😂 I want the world to know that my EP is coming April 30th and I’ve got some really dope visuals coming at the end of this month too! My team and I are putting everything we have into this right now and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing about me is I love to eat, so my list of things to do would probably all involve food lol. Some of my favorite places are Louisiana Bistreaux, Bistro Niko, Fogo De Chao and Superica. If I’m having a chill night I may go to Yard House or Benchwarmers sports bar just for the Buffalo chicken Mac and cheese! You can pretty much find me anywhere where the food is amazing lol, I also love the planetarium so if you’re into space that’s deff a fun spot to check out! And I love little Five points, you can always meet interesting people and it’s an extremely artsy scene over there, they also have some pretty cool places to shop and and get trinkets and such. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank ClubLandMusicGroup for taking the time to invest all that they can in me at the moment, they’re making a lot happen for me right now and I was extremely stagnant until I met the people involved. I also think the boy who initially broke my heart deserves a thank you because he inspired the first songs I’ve ever written and those songs put me in rooms and spaces that I would’ve never been in before the music.
