We had the good fortune of connecting with Cambria Dickerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cambria, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The principle that matters most to me is integrity. I think it’s very important to be an honest person of your word and have a sense of morality. Your moral compass is what guides you through your life’s journey so it’s very important to make sure it’s in proper alignment.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The businesses I previously interviewed for Campr & Caravan of Luv have seen quite a few shifts since we’ve last talked, to be honest! I’ve learned to accept pivots in business and to express my creativity in various ways.
Campr is now a creative strategy public relations firm that offers content development and traditional PR. Producing content is a new passion of mine and I have found a niche in creating social media strategy for businesses. I realized along the way of building my boutique PR firm that I’d grown such a love for the process of creating and bringing mental images to life. To go from a simple thought or idea to a visually pleasing aesthetic whether it’s a website or a press kit is such a gratifying process.
Caravan of Luv is still expanding as a tarot business in which I provide spiritual coaching and guidance to my client base. I’ve been able to organically grow a good community base there and I’ve seen a skyrocket in sales, last month being my highest. I also have some new things in development with a start-up tarot reading app so that’s a huge opportunity that I’m excited about!
I’ve also recently started developing a new business, Luv’s Remedy, which is a holistic medicinal line carrying over-the-counter drugs created from nature’s herbs. I’m very excited about this new venture and can’t wait to begin product development, but I am taking it one day at a time.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m not afraid to take risks, make changes, and switch lanes as needed. I try to be as free-flowing as possible with the creative ideas I receive and explore any I feel can benefit myself and others as entrepreneurial efforts.
I don’t give up and I’ve grown to be very comfortable with change, mainly because I’ve been forced to. I’ve gone through transitions in my life that have taught me how important it is to detach and just simply be…be yourself, be the greatness you wish to attain. I got to where I am today by not fearing to step outside of the box and boldly shine my light regardless of any challenges or doubts. It has not been an easy process but I’d like to think that being an entrepreneur has given me the backbone that I have today. I’m not easily deterred and although I may come across bumps in the road, I try my best to push through at my own pace while being compassionate. There are good days and bad days, but not allowing the bad days to discourage me from my end goal.
I’ve overcome the challenges of building businesses by being self-aware, practicing affirmations with myself, and remaining in a positive mindset. Through spirituality, I learned how important it is to have balance in everyday life not just in business, and incorporating some of the grounding practices taught have greatly improved my self-confidence and sense of stability!
Ultimately I want the world to know through my work and businesses is that you are limitless and capable of all things. I don’t care much for the fame but if I can inspire someone with my story and give them the hope to step out and take a leap of faith, then my work is done. I just want to shine my light in a way that illuminates the light within others that they’ve allowed to be dimmed by hard lives and negative outlooks. We’re all capable of making magic out of our lives and I simply wish to be a testament to that!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I assume that the festivities are beginning on a nice, beautiful Friday, and what better way to start with some good food? Being that I am vegan, it’s only right that we visit Fevers Side Chicks, a local vegan food truck in Birmingham, for some buffalo cauliflower and pizza. I mostly eat pretty clean but a cheat meal, while my friend is in town, is acceptable lol. After, we could take a nice walk around Southside to help digest our food and check out a few bars along the strip. The next day, Saturday would be for a nice hiking trail at Ruffner Mountain to get some blood pumping and fresh air and followed by brunch at Tropicaleo, another plant-based friendly restaurant that sells yummy dishes from Puerto Rico. Their food is so good and of course, MIMOSAS! We can go to the hotel to regroup, shower, and rest before doing a bit more site seeing. The Pixel Room would be next on the itinerary for a cute and fun selfie museum adventure! For the night scene, we could hit Plum Bar for some nice live music, good vibes, and drinks. Sundays are made for chilling out so after some self-care with yoga and meditation, we can head to the Railroad Park for a nice stroll and fruit smoothies from Red Cat Coffee. This weekend full of events may have me too pooped for more throughout the week lol but here are a few to start a great visit trip with my bestie!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, first and foremost, God! I’ve been so blessed along my path to entrepreneurship so I have to give thanks and show gratitude. I’d also like to give a special shoutout to my mom for supporting me through every turn my entrepreneurial journey has taken. She’s been here encouraging me to succeed from day one. My friends Neph, Chakiara, & Brea have also been a great support system pushing me to never give up on my dreams and keeping me level-headed through it all.
I also think every job throughout my career has greatly impacted me in some way, shape, or form. I’ve expanded my skill set, had the real-life experience to shape my niche, witnessed the ins and outs of business management, and most importantly I learned valuable lessons about myself. I’ve gained too many meaningful connections to name but they all have contributed to where I am today.
