We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Mulligan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Annie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Mulligan Law provides legal services to individuals in the community who otherwise would be unlikely to afford them. We provide legal representation in areas of their lives that they would otherwise not be able to manage effectively or knowledgeably, such as divorce, custody, adoption, paternity, legitimation, child support, and domestic violence. We do this by offering affordable flat fees and payment plans based on the individual’s income. This significantly expands the safety net for those of limited means in our community. Additionally, our active pro bono and low bono commitment means that our reach extends to yet another constituency in need of this support.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What distinguishes Mulligan Law is simple: it’s the combination of passionate client care and affordability. The road has not always been smooth, but I have had a clear personal and professional vision and have had the advantage of working in offices where I could witness and absorb first-rate management skills, as well as expand my knowledge and hone my own efficiency. I could always “see” the road I wanted to be on, and I was able to make course corrections with this vision always ahead of me. Furthermore, in this single-attorney firm model, I have learned when to reach out and to whom, as well as how to reciprocate.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course, I’d want my friend to see the city from the top of the SkyView Atlanta Ferris Wheel, and to check out the African elephants at the zoo and the dolphins at the aquarium. And since the shrimp and grits at Due South are not to be missed, that’s where we’d have dinner. But what I love even more than the city itself, in all its vibrancy, is actually outside of it: the rolling fields where horses graze, a hike on the Line Creek Nature Trail, a hot chocolate at Starrs Mill. The natural beauty beyond the city keeps me grounded. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For several years now, the professionals at Atlanta Legal Aid have been thoroughly inspirational in showing me over and over again that passionate, skillful representation doesn’t need a big price tag and that hard work on behalf of women, men, and children is often its own reward. The larger community of attorneys throughout Georgia has also been a source of helpfulness and mentorship for me, and I am grateful for their influence. My family has believed in me and supported my goals steadily and without fail.
