Meet Jalon Levett: Fashion Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalon Levett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalon, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by many different things in life, but ultimately remaining happy in everything I do truly inspires me. Going back into things that inspire me are mostly fashion, music, and how those two previous inspirations feed into each other. Without each other the other doesn’t survive. I believe fashion and music are the two biggest things that evolves cultures and with that I strive to learn more about both aspects which feeds into my deep inspiration.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently working as a mechanical engineer at Oxy as my main occupation, but I also have a clothing line upcoming, Pure Love, and work as a fashion stylist as well. My love and passion is in the fashion world so whatever is brought forwards to me involving that I jump on it and do it to the best of my ability. My care free level of what I wear really sets me apart from people, which as also led me to styling people because of some of the outfits I’ve been able to put together as well as each individual article of clothing being put together to make an outfit. Some lessons I’ve learned along my way is that you have to dress somebody according to what they are comfortable with and not what you know they’ll look good in. I would love the world to know I will treat every single styled outfit as I am dressing myself. I want to always apply “flava” so I’m most definitely going to do the same.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Art Museums, roof top or garden themed eateries, and any other place that creates a genuine vibe. I’m big on being able to vibe with somebody and if we can’t there wouldn’t be much conversation. You never know what you can learn in this world with somebody or people you can ultimately vibe with. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father, Adrian Levett, definitely deserves the the dedication for my shoutout. Without Pops I wouldn’t be the man I am in this world now. He has instilled in my mind the importance of doing whatever in this world that makes you happy. Giving the dedication to my pops takes me back to my inspiration question about fashion and music. He was really the reason I fell in love with music so much because when I was younger it was always a different artist or a different sound that I had never heard before and it made me more interested on finding out how songs were created and perfected. With fashion my dad played a part in that and also my uncle, Derrick Levett. With my dad it was the more smooth “player” type outfits and my uncle would go over and beyond which gave me more confidence to step in my bag and wear whatever I want to wear and not care about what the world has to say.
