We had the good fortune of connecting with Sherye Bradley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherye, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One piece of conventional advice that I disagree with is the quote “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” I don’t agree with this quote because every day I get up and go out with my camera I get a different result. There’s beauty in the discipline of consistency. In photography I can go out every day and still find something new. Or maybe I post on Instagram consistently, every post will get a different result. Some posts I might get a lot of likes, others won’t, some days someone will be inspired to go explore, other days I may be offered the chance to have a billboard. The same way an athlete finally sees a result when they show up to the gym over and over so does an artist. So, I don’t believe insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result because I have done the same thing over and over and gotten different results.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I document my life, I’m the only one that can live this life and I’ve worked to make my life one that I want to live. I get excited to get up and go new places and try new things. I document my everyday life and things I like to do and see. It wasn’t easy to get to where I am today because life’s not easy. Some days I don’t want to get out of bed, but the days I do and create have resulted in some of my favorite pieces of work. To overcome challenges, I keep showing up and doing my best. The lessons I’ve learned along the way are to keep trying because slow progress is still progress. I want people to know that there’s still beautiful people, places, and things in this world and I use my camera to document that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’re definitely hitting Ponce City Market, Piedmont Park, Atlantic Station, and the Beltline. Those are my go-to spots because you can eat, drink, people watch, and have “the views” all in one place. I take everyone to Juicy Crab and Taco Mac; those are my favorite places to eat. And I make sure everyone sees the skyline from Jackson Street Bridge. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always want to shout out God, my family, and my friends. But for this article I specifically want to shout out my social media family. A lot of times people say that the Internet isn’t real, but I’ve learned that there are real people behind accounts. I’m grateful for the constant support, encouragement, and love that I receive on social media. It helps me not only creatively but it’s encouraging knowing I have love, support, and that I’ve impacted people that I’ve never even met.
