We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregg DaCosta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregg, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because I always wanted to show the beauty in showing an important message within a film. When you can write a screenplay then have others see it or watch it once it’s filmed and they have the reactions that you had when you were creating it, there’s no better feeling.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a filmmaker I feel like the stories that I create speaks for everyone who’s voices aren’t loud enough to be heard by the world. I’m here to be that bridge to make people understand that I hear you and I’m with you. I got to where I am within film by not ever giving up and investing in myself, I don’t like to start things and not finishing it to the end. It wasn’t easy and it’s not easy but that’s life, the things you want the most you have to put the work in to get it. The biggest challenge is keeping my mental health intact. I had to start changing the way I said things and started to say more positive things out loud for example if I was nervous about a situation I would say ,”I’m not nervous, I’m going to do great.” and I would be just that. One of my main goals with my brand Gregg DaCosta Studios, is to collaborate with more creatives and create more stories with powerful messages like what I’m doing currently in my digital series “Therapy” that’s currently on the streaming platform called BitPixTV. My second goal is to help those in need, whether it’s guidance or just giving back in general. My door isn’t closed to anyone, so as much as I can help I will.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t really go out too much unless I’m to get invited to places. I’m usually home writing or working on something, but if my best friend’s do come out to the area we usually go to a few local bars and get some drinks there. If not chill around the house and get some drinks play some videos games or watch some movies.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and most importantly shoutout to God for allowing me to wake up everyday and making me more creative everyday. A big shoutout to Lester Greene who’s had my back in linking me up with the right people, always appreciated. Shoutout to my loved ones and everyone who continues to support me day in and day out, without you all I don’t know where I would be mentally so thank you. Lastly can’t forget Antoine Allen for being a great mentor and business partner thank you for showing me so much within this industry.
