We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Rice` and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor to our success is good quality work coupled with our personal interaction with the client. Our business is reputation-driven. When you do good work, people tell their friends. And when you do poor work, news travels even faster. We have to be very conscious of that and must take pride in every instrument that leaves our shop. We greet each client and work closely with them to understand their issue. We diagnose their issue and tell them how we will fix it and what the cost and time table will be. We treat our clients with respect and dignity.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is home-based. I have a shop behind my house. This keeps my overhead lower and allows me to have competitive prices. Also, I interact with my clients in a neighborly way that resonates with people. It has not been easy, especially considering that we moved around a bit causing me to re-start my business from scratch in 3 different states. We have been in our current location for the last 10 years. That stability has allowed my business to grow steadily. Now, I am at the point where we are consistently busy and we need more space.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the King Center, The High Museum, Ella Guru record shop, and go have dinner at Eats,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I came to this profession late in life (32 years old). I sought out, Mike Marshall, and he took me on as an apprentice. That was instrumental in setting me on a path. But, I have to give the biggest shout out to my wife for her patience and support.
