We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine & Richard Ramnarine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine & Richard, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
We decided to pursue a creative career because we wanted to creative a platform to showcase our family memories and our lives as parents.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While dating we would always share our family home videos with each other from our childhood. We always said that when we start our own family, that we would create our own special memories and document everything by recording our events in our lives. Moving away from all of our family and friends in NYC played a part in us deciding to start our channel. We wanted our close family and friends to see our new lives and what we were doing and where we were going around ATL. After I gave birth to my oldest daughter Reign, we really decided to be all in on our YouTube channel. It was then that we decided to start documenting our journey as first time parents, living alone in Atlanta. We would show Reign’s milestones and places we would travel to with her. We never really expected that our videos we created simply for us and our friends and family to look at, would create an audience of over 50k+. When we got engaged that is when we really saw our channel have a burst of subscribers and followers on Instagram. That particular vlog went “viral” and was shared by so many people. Of course when you have a vlog go “viral” there are going to be negative comments but we took them with stride, the positivity definitely overruled the negative. It was amazing to see so many people genuinely happy for us. Another vlog of ours that pushed us forward was when I gave birth to my youngest daughter Royce, that particular vlog was very successful in growth as well. We had no clue so many people were interested in watching a woman give birth. That vlog was and still is so special to us because we have those memories for us and her to look back on of when I bought her into this world, it was truly an amazing day. Of course when you decide to put your lives on social media you are going to have people who try to impose their opinions on the way you speak, your style of parenting, or simply the way you look. We may not be everyone’s cup of tea on Youtube or their own personal family goals, but we truly pride ourselves in staying true to who we are. We really push the emphasis to our subscribers/followers that we do not create vlogs for gains in popularity, but for our fun memories and we truly appreciate them following us along our journey as a family. Of course having two demanding full time jobs, it really takes a toll on us and we are so exhausted day to day. But, the love and encouragement that we receive from our subscribers and followers really help push us to create our content.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So we are huge foodies so our adventures are usually based on food and fun. After picking them up from the airport, if it’s a late night airport pickup we would head to JJ’s chicken and fish for some takeout. If it’s an early breakfast pickup we like to make a stop at Homegrown or Copeland’s of New Orleans brunch if it’s on the weekends. For any of our guest visiting we like to treat them to southern food so our go to spots are Mary Mac’s Tea Room, Busy Bee Cafe, or This Is It. Anyone that visits us wants to check out the Georgia Aquarium and the North Georgia Premium outlets for some good shopping. We enjoy going to Top Golf and Main Event as well. Hanging out at Atlantic Station and the Avalon in Alpharetta always seem to have family friendly events, restaurants and shopping all in one stop. We use Facebook events section to always find out what it is happening around town for events we can attend. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
