We had the good fortune of connecting with Aniya Reed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aniya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started my business I was nervous , I didn’t know much about starting my own business . I thought this would be a task and a challenge to me but eventually , as time went on I overcame my fear . I learned many new things I’ve learned during this creative process no challenge is a challenge . Creativity has no limit to it just have to put your mind to it and work hard for what you want

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My cakes are for the soul . When I say for the soul I love to create art that will catch the customers or a person who loves art and creativity eye , not only does it look good but it taste good . I am a huge fan of color I live for color I live in color , that’s how I express my feelings behind the cakes . I got where I am today by believing in myself , I learned that as an cake artist your entitled to make creative mistakes . I’ve practiced , watched cake tutorials , freestyled on my free time . I love to create the impossible . I would love for the world to know every cake creation I make is a piece of me , my cakes are for the children and people who have a creative side in them . My brand name @creativecakebar stands for exactly what it says . I am not the perfect baker no matter how much I want to be and make my work neat

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friend was visiting the area I would take her to visit museums and cake shops . I love to visit museums and cake shops i would love to show her why I enjoy what I do as a baker / cake artist . If I had the opportunity to meet takashi murakami ( Japanese contemporary artist ) I would bring my friend along so she see where a lot of my inner hype and love for art comes from . I would also like to meet Peter Anton ( artist ) he creates realistic food art & miramikati ( fashion designer ) who makes all these beautiful colorful clothes and creates bright colored art . And last but not least Brian donnelly ( kaws ) who creates these amazing figures . One place I dream of visiting almost everyday is Japan there’s something about japan I just have to visit at least once . I would love to go over there and create Japanese cake art The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my daughter jaliyah and my mom most importantly for believing in me and having my back through it all . My friends jelezce ( PurpleFizzSweets ) & diamonte ( montes sweet crunch ) who’s also a bakers . My sister rachel ( chef Kitty ) my business partner who makes all my lovely cake toppers Gabrielle ( top of the cakes )
