We had the good fortune of connecting with Eboni Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eboni, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Personally, the biggest factor in my success was learning to put myself out there. I quickly had to learn how to go outside my comfort zone and do things that scared me, because in the end they’d only benefit me in some form or another. I had to learn how to take charge of my own initiative and drive myself and push myself harder than before.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an younger artist, I always tried to stick to one thing because that’s what I thought all artists did. One style, one medium. I had to unlearn that mentality and now I’ve managed to develop many styles and can use many different mediums. From semi-realism, to photo-realism, to stylized character designs, to anime, to anything in between. I like to constantly switch up and do what makes me happy. I’m really excited about a story I’ve managed to create with my art. The story of six teenagers boys with a rough life living in Southern California. Bringing these characters to life through art and writing is something that I am so extremely proud of. It’s a lot easier to get gain traction in the eyes of the media today as oppose to 1960, for instance. I’m fortunate enough to have been able to put a lot of my art on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, where I gained most of my audience and opportunities from. Just because it’s easier now than it was in 1960, though, doesn’t make it not hard. There’s a lot of ups and downs, highs and lows, and inconsistencies that you have to face. Again, it all boiled back down to me learning how to get out of my comfort zone and hustle hard. I’ve learned many valuable lessons. The one I’ve taken to heart is to let people help you. You don’t have to try to do everything on your own. I want the world to know that no matter how you started, where you came from, what your style is, what your medium is, or how much popularity or recognition your art has, if I can do it; you can do it. I’ve come a long way with hard work, and perseverance. Those were two qualities I definitely did not possess two years ago. Yet, I’m here. And anyone can be where I am, too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Personally, I’m all for museums, factories, and fun tourist spots. A fun day at the Georgia Aquarium, or the World of Coke, or even the High Museum of Art could put a smile on anyones faces. After it all, a bite of pizza at Fellini’s definitely couldn’t hurt.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my closest friends. They’ve done nothing but support me, push me, help me strive, and really help me get to where I am now. They’ve been in support of me and my dreams since day one. Even if I wanted to give up, they’d never let me. I can confidently say that I owe part of my success to London, Elizabeth, Ritney, Skye, Ana, Adia, Shania, Kaily, Hanna, Autumn, Austin, and so many others. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do the things I do. They make me a better person and artist.
