We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron James and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel like risk taking is a major key in any successful business! Whether you’re an upcoming artist, full time entrepreneur, or part time hustler.. it all starts with that first step into the unknown. Most people are too afraid to take that first step because their fear outweighs their desire for success, or because they’ve become too complacent in their current state. But there’s no growth in complacencies.. you’ll only reach a fraction of your potential if you allow yourself to get too comfortable. And even if you fail, what’s that worst that can happen? You’ll either learn a valuable lesson that’ll help you succeed later in life, or, it’ll make for one hell of a story to tell!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I actually got into weddings by accident! I was performing as a vocalist at local bars and night clubs when a friend of mine asked me to DJ/Host her wedding. I was hesitant and afraid at first because I had never done anything that professional, but she insisted, so I took that first step “into the unknown” and succeeded so well, that I was recommended for 12 weddings that following year! I’d like to think my approach to weddings is what sets me apart from other Hosts/DJ’s! I get to know my clients on a personal level, so that on the day of their wedding, I’m just like their long lost cousin (who just so happens to be controlling the music)! I dance with the grandparents, get in dance battles with the kids, and ultimately strive to ensure that everyone leaves saying “This is the best wedding we’ve ever been to!”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmmm.. Monday – A casual stroll through downtown (Cleveland), to see all the “touristy” sites. Followed by a late lunch/drinks down in the flats! Tuesday – Breakfast in Tremont, a trip to the Museum of Modern Art, followed by open mic night at B-Sides in Coventry. Wednesday – Casual bike ride on the Towpath, Urban Kayaking on the Cuyahoga river, dinner at Don’s Lighthouse Thursday – Breakfast/Coffee at The 27 Club (MGK’s coffee house), then spend all day at Edgewater Beach Friday – Bar Hop on West 6th then down to the flats for the nightlife Saturday – A show at the Playhouse Theatre Sunday – Day drinking/Tailgating for the Browns, then watch them win the Super Bowl (2021 here we come)! Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly my DJ “San.Wav” deserves a lot of credit for my current success! We’ve been hosting/DJ’ing weddings for over 4 years now, and we’ve experienced nothing but success! Even in the face of failure, we find a way to make it work!! It’s so much more than just the music, the way we vibe together provides endless moments & memories for all our clients! Couldn’t have made it this far without him!!
