We had the good fortune of connecting with Maureen Herrmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maureen, what matters most to you?
As a small independent company, I try to take a long view approach to success. It takes time to build trust and confidence with clients and nurturing relationships over time builds rewards and success. I believe in offering the value of expertise in everything we do and building a brand that is committed to being genuine, trustworthy and focused on customer needs and outcomes.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career track has been quite diverse. I feel fortunate to have been provided the opportunity for this variety of experiences. Early on I started off as a business owner. In 2000 I opened my first business which was a medical spa in Atlanta along with my long time friend Jennifer Curtin. This venture was such a ground breaking launching pad for me. It opened so many doors and opportunities that have conceded me such wonderful challenges and experiences which developed my practical knowledge to be successful. We franchised our first business in 2004 and grew this to 25 locations across several states. In 2011 we sold Ageless Remedies our first business and from there I decided to take a career turn and experience the corporate world. It was such a great opportunity that continued to develop my skills and knowledge from a totally different perspective. This opportunity allowed me to work with not only HCP’s but many high-level intelligent and skilled professionals. It would be difficult to write all of my take aways from this experience in one short paragraph but what I can say is regardless of the business, or positions I have filled the one consistent message is integrity and trust. Performing well at what you do takes discipline and commitment and holding on to your beliefs and values each day is so important. When a customer, or manager or leader loses the confidence and trust in an individual it is really hard to recover. My advise is to give it your all, failure is just not an option. Love to learn each and every day and strive to be better.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would pick them up and take them to a great restaurant. One of my favorite new places is ‘The Chastain’ it has a relaxed ambience and the food is amazing. I would plan a day of outdoor hiking Stone Mountain, visiting Centennial Park and maybe if time, hitting the High Museum of Art. I would defiantly make sure we fit into our evening THERE Gastropub located in Brookhaven. This gem is always a blast and the staff do not disappoint. It is super laid back, friendly envoronment and always have great conversations with the people you meet there. Food is also really great and not your typical bar food. If time would also squeeze in a quick tour of Ponce City Market. Lot’s of people watching and great food, views and energy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dr. Pravin Reddy with Reddy Aesthetic Institute has been generous in mentoring me on the science of beauty, best practices and protocols in aging and beauty preservation. When someone is kind enough to share knowledge and expertise with you this is truly a gift that is priceless. I could not have achieved the successes that I have with the opening of SkynBar Atlanta without his unprecedented support. He has also been a soundboard on the business side lending great value with business management and execution. Small operations can come with big challenges and having that additional support of confidence can really take a lot of pressure off when challenges present.
