We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmyn Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmyn, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“However long the night, the dawn will break” is a simple African proverb that has stuck with me for years. It’s such a comforting reminder to persevere through the “dark hours,” any unfavorable circumstances or whenever feelings of sadness/anger/disappointment come about. Regardless of what you’re going through, it’s not permanent. Don’t let it overstay its welcome and consume you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always enjoyed creating, whether it was through painting, fashion, interior design, or graphic design. Recently, I was introduced to crystals, and early on in this journey I had the random idea of getting into wire wrapping crystals. And I loved it! To me, creating crystal jewelry is a way to highlight and honor the crystal and its metaphysical properties while crafting a unique style to honor the person that the piece is meant for. I had been wrapping in secret for a couple of months until a friend saw the gifts I’d been hoarding and encouraged me to step out my comfort zone and sell them. It wasn’t easy at first because I’m such a worrier and I had automatically ruled out ever being an entrepreneur for that reason. Who would willingly want to stress out for years, right? But it took realizing that this vision was bigger than me to have the courage to step out on faith despite the risks and keep the passion while doing so. Through this jewelry, I’ve seen people increase their interest in crystals, break down myths and assumptions of metaphysical energy, and incorporate crystals into their everyday life. And that’s the bigger picture. The lessons are constant as I try to juggle being an empath and a business owner, but the one lesson I keep dear to my heart is “As long as you’re proud of the work you create and love it, the right people will feel the same.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m all about the chill and leisurely experience, so my favorite area is Museum Campus. Whether you’re interested in any of the museums or not, the surrounding area is just beautiful to stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere. It’s also close to Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, and Millennium Park, all city staples in my opinion. Besides downtown, I love the Chinatown area. You can never go wrong wherever you eat. Speaking of food, Harold’s is a must on the list! That and Giordano’s Pizza.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many! I’d love to shoutout my tribe of friends all across the country, some that I’ve known since kindergarten and some since college. They’re the type of support system that always root for me yet hold me accountable when a kick in the rear is needed. I’m an only child, so my friends are the siblings I was able to choose. I would also love to shoutout my crystal community that has been so welcoming and loving in such a short amount of time. There are so many that have been the catalyst to my spiritual journey and connecting to Mother Nature, and even just doing right by myself and others in general! I do want to highlight Doug and Dana from Our Mother’s Crystals and Bee and Ken from Bee’s Sage and Crystals, they are like my crystal mentors. I’ve learned so much from them and they inspire me daily.
