We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysha Drummond and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysha, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
What is the end goal? To be successful. I have been a writer most of my life; mostly poetry. My main goal when I was younger, was to be a published author by the time I was 18. There were circumstances that prevented me from doing so. Through the years, I have lost faith in myself and even doubted if writing was worth it anymore. Professionally, I would like to be a well-known author. My goal is to become Internationally Known. Of course this is a challenging task and it takes time and dedication. I believe it is time to push myself and peruse my dreams in writing. So the end goal? To be an author with my own publishing company.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am definitely not working the “Dream Job”. Haaa.. but it pays the bills and also helps me financially to get to where I want to be. Professionally I would like to be a Therapist. I currently study psychology. Schooling is not as easy as they say. It takes a lot from you physically and emotionally. I have dropped out and went back about 2 times now. Of course I am not where I would like to be career wise or professionally; but I will be there soon. I would consider myself a creative individual. I like to test myself and see if I can complete a certain task. I recently picked up working with resin which has been really fun. I like to explore my creative side with both writing and seeing what new task I can pick up. I have made ashtrays, shot glasses, key chains, game boards, coaters, and there will be much more to come. There has been challenges. Now you have many people that do the same exact thing as you. I struggle with promoting myself. I have learned that there will be no one that can promote your work better than yourself. I have been rebranding my website and working on ways to get my sales up. It has not been easy but I realized if I give up on me, then so will everyone else.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from Brunswick, Ga. Since the pandemic we have lost so many places in our town. If I had a choice, I would say St. Simons i a place you would want to go to enjoy yourself. The scenery in Brunswick and on St. Simons is breathtaking. I enjoy going to the beach or the pier for a ate night stroll. There are many great restaurants, too many to choose from. It is a place that is admired for its beauty.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have received so much love and guidance through the years. Almost anyone that spent time with me knew I was passionate about my writing. I would like to give my thanks and appreciation to my family and close friends. They are my biggest critics. I appreciate every positive review I received from them. When I needed feedback they provided me with their opinions. When I doubted myself they were there to assure me along the way. Without my support system, I may have given up a long time ago.
