We had the good fortune of connecting with Deshannon Celestine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deshannon, what makes you happy? Why?
Making a difference people will feel when I am gone! The world needs more people who walk in love. We need more people who simply seek to make a difference by getting high off helping others! LOL

I am all about women supporting women!  It was important for me to create a safe place and a resource center where all women can gain what so many crave…..Encouragement!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Shades of Power and Love is a Multicultural Sisterhood! This is a place where we welcome imperfections! I wanted to create a safe place for women that will be a one stop shop for ladies. Our organization is all about love and support. We offer support in several ways, including daycare vouchers, job placement, community feeding events, immigration assistance, women socials, etc.

We are a nonprofit organization all about building a woman up no matter where you are from or your nationality. We encourage our sisters to represent their flag!

We are all about reconciling cultures and combining our strength to change the world. I’m most proud about the impact we have made in so many lives. The fact that we are doing our part to break the typical church stereotype of judgmental cliques to building relationships and attracting people by walking in pure love. We are not another clique, we are a sisterhood of all shades of color exhibiting the power of love! Business wise it took plenty of discipline and hard work to start Shades of Power and Love, and we still have many goals to accomplish. Working long hours and multiple jobs for other business owners to fund the startup of Shades of Power and Love is a major challenge. Working my 9-5 then clocking into my own dream while raising my toddler took guts, dedication, and plenty of coffee! Was it easy? Heck No! This is a daily challenge, but I will remain focused on my purpose!

So many times, have I quoted Galatians 6:9 reminding myself to keep doing good, because I will reap the harvest! I want the world to know that it takes all of us to change this world! Shades of Power and Love is living proof that you do not have to be a millionaire to make a difference.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely have them meet me downtown to check out all of the local wall murals! Grab our camera and take a stroll down the Atlanta Beltline and cruise through Old Fourth Ward! Of course, every visitor wants to check out the King Exhibit with a quick view of the Freedom Center! I would definitely take them to Cafe Istanbul for some late-night belly dancing with a cool laid back view! Of course, for lunch we would head to the Old Lady Gang Restaurant for some creamy down south Mac and Cheese! We would visit the Buckhead strip and end the week by being front and center at Victory World Church in Norcross for awesome Sunday Service.
