We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean “Dj Conan” Collier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean “Dj Conan”, what do you attribute your success to?
Well. The MOST important thing behind any venture is your “Why”….why are you doing what you’re doing? Why are you getting up everyday to face a world of negativity? Your “why” MUST be strong and something other than just making profits or not working. My “Why” has always been my children. Secondly, if there is something that would make you QUIT, don’t even get started. Most people have no idea the amount of doors the world closes in your face, you have to see your brand succeed and push it past their vision.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
So…my brands are Twin Beats Enterprises LLC, 3rd Eye Massage & Spa Treatments LLC., Collier Care LLC (brand new venture with my wife), and Move on Ambition (which is a brand I am continuing in honor of my great friend Jamiel “Joka🃏”Chapman who passed and was one of my closest friends and business partners. What sets me apart from others, is that I try to stay in phase one. One of mentors, Brian Beane would always stress the importance of staying in the core and beginning stages of promoting a business/brand. I believe in the 5 P’s…Plan, Product, Promote, Persistence, Profit…and consistency is key from there. What I want the world to know about my brands, is that what you see is only the beginning. There are no limitations except what you put in your life. Everything I have accomplished and obtained, I truly got it out the mud. No capital, no initial support system, no direction, no idea how or if it would work…I just stayed focus on growing and didn’t quit. So you can literally fail your way to success if you believe in yourself. It gets easier, and easier the more you stay with it. It’s definitely not over night.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I’d probably take one of the party buses on a night on the town (which i still have yet to do myself). Probably catch a bite, hit a chill spot (maybe a sports bar), since the pandemic still poses a tremendous threat, and laugh as much as possible. I don’t drink anymore (a bad habit I put to death after 11 years of being a firefighter/medic and working in the E.R. for so long……it changes you sometimes and alcohol can become a coping mechanism that can hurt you. I love to have fun though.. Honestly, knowing my friends….we’d skip all that and get on the motorcycles and joy ride (social distancing at its finest). The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow….this is so fitting. There are plenty of people I would wanna shout out. The only reason I won’t attempt to name them all is because I don’t wanna forget ANY of them. My Mother…Kim Collier (of Neptune, NJ) has been my biggest supporter since I started. My frat brother and friend Brandon Lateef (Wing-a-Ling LLC), my sister Alexis Miller (Nova Luxury Group LLC), Dante Stevenson (Zulus M.C.) and SOOO many others. I could literally go on and on. My supporters are the BEST part of the process, not the money, not the recognition, or the limelight. I try to be a very simple person, but I’m also a true Aries ♈ so go figure. My whole village deserves a shout out.
