We had the good fortune of connecting with Maycon Fontoura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maycon, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When people hear the word risk, they often think of reckless decisions or gambling. For me, risk has always meant something different. It means having the courage to move forward despite uncertainty while doing everything possible to prepare for success.

Throughout my career, I have taken many calculated risks. I built businesses from the ground up in Brazil, worked with internationally recognized entertainment brands, and eventually made the decision to expand into the United States. Starting over in a new country after already establishing a successful career was one of the biggest risks of my life. There were no guarantees, only a vision and a willingness to work for it.

What I have learned is that growth rarely happens inside our comfort zone. Every meaningful achievement in my career came from stepping into situations where the outcome was uncertain. At the same time, I believe risk should always be balanced with preparation, discipline, and persistence.

One of the greatest lessons life has taught me is that success is not the absence of setbacks. Success is the ability to keep moving forward when setbacks occur. Some of the most valuable opportunities in my life emerged after moments that initially looked like failures.

Today, I no longer measure risk by asking, “What if I fail?” Instead, I ask, “What will happen if I never try?” More often than not, the greatest risk is allowing fear to make the decision for you.

My businesses, my career, and my personal journey have all been shaped by that belief.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the founder of HK Group and currently serve as CEO of WBCI Live in the United States. For more than two decades, my career has been dedicated to creating live entertainment experiences and helping internationally recognized brands connect with audiences through touring productions and family-focused events.

Over the last twenty years, I have had the privilege of producing and promoting live experiences featuring globally recognized brands such as Peppa Pig, Masha and the Bear, Baby Shark, Pocoyo, and many others. These productions reached audiences throughout Brazil and Latin America and taught me that great entertainment is about much more than selling tickets—it is about creating moments that families remember for a lifetime.

One of the things I am most proud of is knowing that millions of parents and children have shared meaningful experiences through productions my teams helped bring to life. Entertainment has the unique ability to create memories that stay with people long after the curtain closes.

Today, my focus is on expanding operations in the United States through WBCI Live, building strategic partnerships, and developing touring productions that combine creativity, operational excellence, and long-term brand value. I enjoy bringing together content owners, producers, venues, and communities to create experiences that connect people across cultures and markets.

The journey has certainly not been easy. Entrepreneurship requires resilience, adaptability, and the willingness to continually reinvent yourself. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, and every setback has helped prepare me for the next opportunity.

My goal is simple: whenever audiences see a production presented by WBCI Live, I want them to immediately associate it with quality, professionalism, and unforgettable experiences.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the things I enjoy most about living in the Atlanta area is the incredible variety it offers. You can experience the energy of a major international city and, within a short drive, find yourself surrounded by mountains, lakes, and small-town charm.

If a close friend were visiting for a week, I would definitely start with some of Atlanta’s iconic attractions, including the Georgia Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, and The Battery Atlanta. The Battery is one of my favorite places because it combines sports, entertainment, great food, and a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the energy of the city.

Since I live in North Georgia, I would also make sure they experienced some of the region’s natural beauty. We would spend time exploring the North Georgia mountains, visiting places like Blue Ridge, driving scenic roads, and enjoying the landscapes that make this part of the state so special.

As someone who has spent most of his career in live entertainment, I would absolutely include a concert, theatrical production, or live event in the itinerary. I believe one of the best ways to understand a city is through its arts and entertainment scene.

Of course, some of the most meaningful experiences would simply involve sharing great meals and good conversations with friends and family. In my experience, the places we remember most are often connected to the people we spend them with.

What I love about the Atlanta area is its unique combination of opportunity, diversity, hospitality, and quality of life. It is a place where you can build a business, raise a family, and still find new experiences around every corner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, my shoutout goes to my family. Entrepreneurship is often associated with the person leading the company, but behind every achievement there are countless sacrifices made by the people who walk alongside us. Their support, patience, encouragement, and belief have helped me navigate both the successes and the challenges throughout my journey.

I would also like to recognize the incredible teams I have worked with over the years. No production, business, or major accomplishment is ever the work of one person alone. From theater crews and producers to business partners and office staff, I have been fortunate to work with talented people who shared a commitment to excellence and helped bring ambitious ideas to life.

I am equally grateful to the mentors and industry leaders who generously shared their knowledge and experience with me. Many of the opportunities I have had throughout my career came because someone was willing to open a door, offer guidance, or trust me with a responsibility before I had fully proven myself.

Finally, I would like to recognize the content creators, licensors, producers, and entrepreneurs I have collaborated with throughout the entertainment industry. Working alongside globally recognized brands and talented professionals from different countries has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.

One lesson I have learned is that success is never a solo achievement. Every milestone in my life and career carries the fingerprints of people who believed in me, challenged me, supported me, and helped me become a better leader. For that, I will always be grateful.
