Meet Joyce Kyles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joyce Kyles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joyce, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success / the success of my brand is rooted in my authenticity. I am very clear and confident in the gifts and talents I’m blessed with, and I diligently work on developing my skills around them. I don’t claim to know it all. I don’t pretend to be something or someone I’m not. That does me and those I work with, whether now or in the future, a huge disservice.
I’ve found that my authenticity attracts people to want to learn more about me and my brand. They hire me to speak. They buy my books. They give me the opportunity to facilitate training. They give me the privilege of being their coach or their organizational consultant. In business, it is important that people know, like, and trust me. When people share with me that their experiences with me have led to their personal and professional wins, it is a gratifying success that makes me happy.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about what it means to transition, transform, and thrive. I enjoy being a keynote speaker. It brings me so much joy to stand in front of an audience to provide motivation, clarity, and solution-centered strategies. My transparency and the transformation I bring with a theme song have become my signatures. I’m proud of that. Among the many lessons I’ve learned in business is that you cannot say ‘everybody’ is your client. You cannot successfully serve everyone. I find joy in supporting all leaders, but what really excites me most is working with high-functioning women and ensuring that the terms ‘high-achieving’ or ‘high-functioning’ are fully understood. What I’ve learned and guided others to learn is that professional, outward success rooted in masked, private trauma is far more common than one cares to admit. It can be overwhelming attempting to show up in perfection. Additionally, success is not the same for everyone. For some women, success may look like getting through the day without crying. That needs to be celebrated as much as closing a major contract. It’s the stories behind understanding how each woman got to their win and showing them that every level of their resiliency matters. I want to lead them on a journey to work-life harmony and sustainable productivity.
There have been times on this journey when resilience has taken the lead, and other times when restoration has been key to better appreciating what it means to be resilient. I think it’s important that people understand the difference between the two. Restoration provided me the opportunity to go back and review personal and professional spaces where I felt disconnected. I needed to return to my original ‘me’ and who and what I love most about who I am and what I do. I’m able to move forward and operate in my purpose.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love food, and Atlanta has some of the best places to eat. We’d have to visit Cafe’ Social House, T’s Brunch Bar, and Atlanta Fish Market for sure. If there’s entertainment of any kind happening at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, we will enjoy the Sky Box. Centennial Park and midtown Atlanta is great for walking and talking to also include hanging out at Atlantic Station. You never know what local, national, or international celebrity or business mogul you may run into, so have your phone and your physical and/or digital cards on hand. There are too many local shops and cultural landmarks to name, so I’d make a list of as many as possible. I’d also make sure we take a short drive over to Macon GA as well, to experience the Tubman African American Museum.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband, children, and grandchildren, along with some great family, colleagues, and friends. I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to have a great village of people in my life who believe in me and my work.
