Meet Jared Johnson | Owner of Smoke N Mirrors Barbershop & Master Barber Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jared Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jared, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
We believe in leading from the front. While our services may seem minor, we are intimately entrenched in the community. Our business offers mentorship regarding financial stability, occupational endeavors, academics, and overall service. The feedback we receive from the community validates our leadership and engagement. We spend time with the elderly, disabled veterans, and first-responders. We give them a safe place to express themselves without judgement. Our mentorship has help college students succeed with doubt was the loudest voice they heard. It allowed struggling families to get a haircut when funds didn’t allow for it, why..because we have faith in our neighbors. Our goal is to continue to being a beacon of positivity in a world that lacks it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently a Barber Instructor atScales Barber Academy in McDonough, GA. What sets me apart from others is my passion for creating leaders. While some may feel that elevating another person will equal their downfall, I believe cultivating leaders is a calling. My path started with my military service. Once I separated from the Air Force, I found myself looking for opportunities in an area I did not know, from people I did not know. Since I was young, I have always been passionate about barbering. I decided to enroll in Scales Barber Academy, which set me on a path for success that I would not have imagined. Thanks to the mentorship I received, I was able to obtain my Master Barber License, purchase my barbershop, and obtain my Master Barber Instructor License within three years. I got to where I am today thanks to the grace of God and having a great support system around me. This journey was/is not easy but it is so fulfilling to look back a reflect on the challenges that I overcame. The obstacles I did face were necessary. I overcame them by remaining focused. Additionally, I refused to make any excuses for shortfalls. I decided that I would win…period. I would like the world to know that were are dedicated to the success of the barber industry. We believe in charitable actions and our success is contingent on who we help get across the finish line.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I believe every great story will need to have a few key ingredients food, entertainment, and great vibes. One of our first stops is Slim & Husky’s on Metropolitan. Next we’re going to hit up 1942 Social for some drinks and grown-up vibes. Lastly, its time for a cigar to unwind. Our final stop is the Cigar Lounge to unwind.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would to thank God for keeping me while on this path of growth. My family, friends, and my Smoke N Mirrors Barbershop team.
