Meet Donnie VISA | Music Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Donnie VISA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donnie, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I actually have a song called The Purpose because that word means everything to me. It’s how I know whether to keep going or give up. Music isn’t just something I do it’s something I’m meant to do. Even when things get tough or I question the path, I always come back to that purpose. I’ve seen what my music can do for people and what it’s done for me. That’s the reminder. If the purpose is still loud in my heart, then quitting isn’t even on the ta

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is rooted in real life pain, growth, ambition, and purpose. I’ve made songs to catch a trend before, but they never really moved me. I used to hide the heaviest chapters of my life, thinking I had to show strength a certain way. But now, I know my truth is my strength. The more I put that into the music, the more people connect.
Even my more turnt tracks like Dumps & Pins have intention behind them. Everything I do falls under The Approved Way which stands for Acquiring Power & Prosperity, Remaining Optimistic Versus Envy and Doubt. That’s not just my brand it’s my way of life. It’s about pushing forward with purpose no matter the obstacles.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, lack of support, and times I didn’t fully believe in myself. But I kept learning, kept growing, and stopped running from my story. What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to go deep. I want people to hear my music and feel seen, like they’re not alone in whatever they’re going through. I’m here to make music that matters and to walk in the approved way every step of the journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to Charlotte for a week, I’d make sure they left with a real taste of the city both the turn up and the soulful sides.
Day 1: We’d start with some Carolina-style BBQ probably Midwood Smokehouse or Sweet Lew’s. After that, we’d hit South End to check out the murals, shops, and local breweries. If they’re into art, we’d stop by the Elder Gallery or Goodyear Arts.
Day 2: Uptown vibes. Brunch at The Crunkleton or Ruby Sunshine, then check out the Mint Museum or Harvey B. Gantt Center for Black art and culture. That night, maybe a Hornets game or live music at Neighborhood Theatre or The Fillmore.
Day 3: Relaxed day we’d hit Freedom Park or rent bikes along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. For dinner, STIR or The Waterman for seafood, then maybe grab drinks at Cloud Southend or a rooftop bar like Nuvole 22.
Day 4: Time to show them the creative grind bring them to a studio session, maybe let them see some behind-the-scenes of how I put tracks like The Purpose or Dumps & Pins together. After that, we’d grab wings from Cheat’s Cheesesteak & Grill or hit Cuzzo’s Cuisine for soul food.
Day 5: We’d check out Camp North End crazy art, food spots, and events. If something’s poppin’ like a night market or local festival, we’re there. That night, we’d hit Cordial or Starlight on 22nd for laid back lounge energy.
Day 6: Maybe a day trip to the U.S. National Whitewater Center for rafting, ziplining, or just chilling by the water with some live music. Grab tacos from Sabor or Paco’s Tacos on the way back.
Day 7: Sunday reset church if they’re into it, then brunch at Uptown Yolk or Sunflour Baking Company. Real conversations, gratitude, and good vibes before they head out.
Charlotte has its own vibe creative, growing, and grounded. It’s like me: not trying to be like anyone else, just leveling up with purpose.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. I’ve got to shout out my family first especially my wife and kids. Their love, patience, and belief in me keep me grounded and motivated. Every late night, every risk I take with this music, they’re right there with me. I also want to shout out the people who really listened when I was just figuring things out friends who gave honest feedback, producers who believed in the vision before it was polished, and fans who reached out saying my music helped them through something. That kind of support doesn’t just boost me it reminds me why I started.”
