We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyasia Mathis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyasia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I first set out to start my own business, my primary focus-like many others-was financial stability. However, that goal quickly gave way to something deeper: a sense of purpose. What started as a practical venture gradually transformed into a brand that I believe embodies the creative vision God placed within me. In creating Emarie Green, I was intentional about ensuring its message wasn’t clouded by materialism, but instead stood as a symbol of God’s love and creativity. What began as a business has since grown into a meaningful and expressive creative brand.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in customized and textured artwork, with many of my canvas pieces featuring three-dimensional elements, intricate textures, and resin finishes. In addition to this, I create personalized coloring books designed especially for children of all ages—perfect as keepsakes, memory-makers, or simply for fun. Every piece I create, even a coloring book, is meant to hold lasting value, carrying memories and meaning for years to come.

As we discussed, my journey into entrepreneurship didn’t begin here, but it has grown into one of the most transformative and challenging paths of my life—a journey of discovering and becoming the person God has called me to be. I had to learn the importance of alignment over and over again before I could finally take a leap of faith, free from the fear of what might lie ahead. That courage came through ongoing conversations and deep fellowship with God, who continually revealed His plans for me.

Along the way, I’ve experienced both joyful and painful tears, each one teaching me something valuable. Even in moments of loss, I’ve made it a point to embrace the lessons and carry them forward. One of the greatest takeaways from my journey is this: always consult with God about the plans for your life. People who haven’t been part of those divine conversations may not understand your path—and may even discourage you from pursuing it. Specifically in moments of vulnerability, our minds are like fertile soil —whatever concepts and ideas we allow in will take root and grow.

I want the world to know that my brand and my story are rooted in triumph after loss. Everything I’ve built stands as a testament to obedience, faith, and the extraordinary things that can happen when you follow God’s calling for your life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a nature lover and proud Decatur native, I truly thrive in the summer sunshine and live for outdoor adventures. I’m always in awe of the many parks and recreational spots scattered throughout the city and its surroundings. I’d start by taking them on a stroll through Piedmont Park and along the BeltLine, where you get the best of both worlds—outdoor beauty and great food, with indoor attractions along the way.

Next, we’d explore some of the area’s scenic water spots, like Roswell Mill or tubing down the Chattahoochee River—perfect for soaking up the sun and cooling off. After a fun-filled day outdoors, no visit would be complete without checking out a few happy hour or lounge spots. Places like Teranga City, Pullman Yards, or anything with a rooftop or along Edgewood always deliver great vibes.

To wrap up the trip, I’d take them for a hike or a peaceful stroll around Stone Mountain, followed by a visit to The Vibrary in Stone Mountain Village for one last round of good energy. Atlanta truly shines with its perfect mix of views and vibes—whether you’re in the heart of the city or on its charming outskirts

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Naturally, as God orchestrates the journey of our lives, He surrounds us with a community—a tribe-of individuals who walk alongside us. I am deeply grateful to each of them for their unwavering support. Yet, there are a few remarkable people whose impact has been truly transformative.

First and foremost, my highest regard goes to my mother, Felicia Harvey. Her steadfast belief in my abilities has been a cornerstone of my journey. A mother’s support can often be the bridge between a dream and its fulfillment, and I am endlessly thankful for hers.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Makeba Morgan Hill, who is currently guiding me through the practice of Reiki and its deep expression of love. Her personal journey has been a catalyst in my development as a Reiki practitioner and continues to inspire my path toward mastery.

Thank you both for faithfully walking in the roles God has ordained for you in my life.
