Meet Alejandra Martinez Dunphy | Interior Designer & Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Martinez Dunphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We take pride in being exceptional communicators, attentive listeners, and collaborative partners. Our design approach combines creativity and in-depth research to craft spaces that are unique, purposeful, and uplifting, enhancing the human experience in meaningful ways. We believe interior design has the power to profoundly impact how people live, work, and thrive. Beyond creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional, we use design as a transformative tool to inspire positive experiences and promote overall well-being.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am the founder and creative director of A+D Studio, an interior design firm specializing in residential and commercial spaces. Before establishing my studio in 2008, I worked in leading architectural firms, focusing on large commercial and hospitality projects. A graduate of SCAD, I now share my passion for design as a part-time instructor at my alma mater’s Atlanta campus and through online classes. Teaching creative minds is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career.
I’ve learned that passion and dedication are the keys to achieving your goals. Inspiration, to me, is about expanding your perspective. Traveling is a constant source of inspiration. My favorite experiences during my travels include exploring museums, antique stores, architectural tours and exploring flea markets. Architectural history and art history are subjects I deeply enjoy studying, fueling my curiosity as a lifelong learner. Currently, I am researching the connection between interior spaces and health/ mental well-being, exploring how they influence and enhance each other.
At A+D Studio, my mission is to create designs that harmonize beauty, functionality, sustainability, and timelessness. With a global portfolio, including award-winning projects across various sectors, we are committed to delivering exceptional solutions that inspire and endure. Our studio thrives on the creativity and expertise of a talented team dedicated to excellence.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will begin the day with brunch at Brasserie Margot at Four Seasons and then a quick walk to the High Museum of Art to see a current exhibit. Following an exploration of the Westside area unique stores and antique stores.
Other fun things to do: Atlanta symphony orchestra and SCADfash, SCAD museum of fashion, Boone’s restaurant with stunning views of the Bobby Jones Golf Course.
For outdoor experiences:
Bring the dogs and walk along Chattahoochee river. I would plan an outdoor lunch at one of the picnic benches along the river. Fresh flowers and nice table setting with healthy food.
Lake front house rental at Lake Hartwell. Rent a boat and explore the lake. Dinner at Hartwell downtown area.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband is my biggest supporter and advisor. He is the best dad, husband, a talented builder, a visionary and entrepeneur.
