Meet LaTisha Corley | Co-Owner of Prepping for Excellence Academy and Published Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTisha Corley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaTisha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is keeping God first. 2023 was a very difficult year for me, one of the hardest besides when my beautiful mother, Joy passed from breast cancer in 2010. But during every obstacle in my life, I remember to keep God first because he is my provider and will never put more on me than I can bear. I recently learned this when my faith was restored in 2023 and I joined my new church-Marantha Life Church under Pastor Joann Rosario. My first day visiting the church, from a invite from my business partner-Mrs. Angie, Pastor Joann preacher on Faith and it became a series for months. It was exactly what I needed. Besides my hard work and dedication, my faith has been a huge impact on the success of not only by childcare center but also in writing my newly published book. My book is called Surviving your First year as a Childcare Boss, which is a guide for early childhood educators and leaders on being successful their first year.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the co-owner of Prepping for Excellence Academy LLC. We are a licensed and Quality Rated childcare center located in Austell, GA and have been successfully operating since 2019. Yes, we survived the Covid-19 Pandemic as a small minority woman owned business. We are not your ordinary childcare, we actually serve our community. Rather its through our annual Thanksgiving canned food drive, winter coat, glove, and beanie drive, or our Christmas Adopt a Family. We added a new initiative this year where we are donating lunch, snacks, and drinks to our local Fire Department #20 for National Fire Fighter Day and National First Responders Day. What I am currently most proud of is securing $95,000 in grants for my childcare center in the past 3 years. I learned that you do not need a grant writer to win grants but you need hard work, time, research, and to know your business inside and outside. I am currently most proud to be a newly published author of my book, which is a guide called Surviving your First Year as a Childcare Boss. It is a guide for up and coming early childcare professionals-future or current directors or owners, this guide will help you be successful!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take her back to our alma mater Clark Atlanta University!!! Then we would go to eat at these places; Juicy Crab, Fish Thyme, Capers, Copelands. Then I would take her thee best boutique to grab some new clothes and accessories- Bink and Bougie! After this we would head to Jeju and enjoy a body scrub. full body massage, and a hip bath. Later we will take our husbands to Fellaship Atl for a real grown and sexy vibe.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would first like to thank God because without him there is no me. I want to thank my husband and my beautiful kids, they are my reason to keep pushing towards greatness. I also want to thank my father, Reggie and my mother, rest her soul, Joy for making me into the woman I am today. I also want to thank my sister, nieces, and friends for their continued support. I lastly want to thank my Pastor Joann for her anointed spirit and my business partner-Mrs. Angie and my mentor- Marlo!
