Meet Dimo Jaxx | Rapper & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dimo Jaxx and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi DIMO, how do you think about risk?
A personal philiosphy of mine is that high risk equals high reward. I incorporate risk into my career and art in multiple ways. Every time I post I am conquering the fear of being percieved. I’m gambling that the audience will connect with the depper parts of myself that I express through music. Lets just say; every time I’ve ever bet on myself I’ve won. Iv always looked at is as If im forced to shake the dice why not shake em to win it all?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think my art is a sonic representation of my environment. My perspective offers a very unique vibe for Decatur citizens old and new. I am very proud of where I’m from, which is Decatur, not East Atlanta. I am a genuine student of the craft, I strive to be lyrical and technical. All around MC vibes. I’m planning on meeting with a breath coach in a few days! Hip Hop isn’t just a study, it’s a religion for me. The quote “the South has something to say,”[Andre 3000] truly shaped my artistry and everything I am.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
FIRST OF ALL WE NOT GOING TO THE VARSITY!!!!First we’d go to Decatur Square. Its so many options for food/art and a beatiful place to learn a little about the historic culture of the city. Like the 11-foot “Celebration!” sculpture [By.Gary Lee Price] or The John Lewis Memorial statue and then probably catch a bite to eat at the Chai Pani for some of the best butter chicken and naan bread in town or Savage Pizza in LP5. After we would make our way to some of the historic neighborhoods that inspire a great deal of the art.(Candler Rd,Glenwood Rd,Cobb Brach,Ect.) or atleast whats left of those places. Before inevitably ending up at a Waffle House.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all, thank you to The city of Decatur Georgia and every citizen of Dekalb County! My amazing Decatur Beach Village for always helping me bring my creative vision to life. Lastly Thanks to Myron Feltner for the shoutout! You a real one!
