We had the good fortune of connecting with Ozone Mayweather and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ozone, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from a one red light city called Buena Vista, GA two hours south of Atlanta, GA. I was raised in a small Community called Coot’s Quarter which was a Street owned and named after my Grandfather the Late Coot Ford Jr. Growing up there taught me so much about life. I want to first start off by saying it helped me become the man I am today. Growing up there taught me how to get it out the mud even when the odds are against you. We didn’t have much but we made what we had work. I saw my Grandmother and Mother struggle day in and day out as a kid and It made me want better for myself and my family. I was the first in my family to Graduate from College with a Bachelor’s degree. I knew in order to break generational curses I had to take advantage of any opportunity I was given if It ever presented itself. My Grandmother always told me in order to get anything you want in life you’re going to have to work for it. She did an awesome job leading by example, She worked a 9 to 5 for 42 years before she retired. I knew if I didn’t set goals to succeed in the future I would not only let myself down but let them down as well. I have seen people I looked up to as a kid not prosper and some of them are in the same position they were in 10 years ago. I learned alot from other people whether if It was something I wanted for myself or something I didn’t want for myself. I’ve been a go getter ever since I learned how to provide for myself. So I do what I do today to show people where I come from that they can do it too. It’s only a handful of people that really prosper where I come from and I’m really blessed to be apart of that small percentage. I do not take any of it for granted. I live everyday like it’s my last.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been an independent artist, and Entrepreneur for over a decade now. I’m most proud of my will to still be going and not giving up through the ups and downs of my career. I think success is a journey and not a destination. Long as you keep going and never stop you’ll eventually get to where you’re going. I had learn that anything worth having takes time nothing happens overnight and if it do you may not keep it long. I want people to always remember to make the brand don’t let it make you. I have my own T Shirt, Hats, & even my own Brand Shoes. I don’t know many people to do anything of that magnitude independently. I’m now a Real Estate Agent and I plan on taking over the Music Industry, Dj World, and Real Estate World in 2021.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m the House Dj at Madhouse Atl Sports Bar and Grill so that better be your first stop in the city of Atl, I’m there every Friday and every other Saturday. The food and drinks are great. Slutty Vegan is a place you much check out if you’re ever in Atl. Me and my Wife love going to Atlanta Hawks Games the atmosphere is crazy. It’s always something to do in Atlanta you really just have to get out and go you’ll always find something trust me. I love ATL
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Big Shoutout to my Cousin Lester Scott for inspiring me to get started with music. When I was a teen he would beat box and make beats by hitting the steering wheel in his car with his fist and we would freestyle while recording on a radio cassette player. I eventually linked up with an artist by the name of Tay Gram and we started a group in high school. We released 3 mixtapes and we had the support of the school behind us. That actually gave me the belief I needed to keep going. I then went to The Fort Valley State University after high school and during my first two years there I won the B.E.T. Black College Tour Freestyle Battle for my University 2 Years in a Row. That actually put a stamp on my career. I then met a lady by the name of Shirley Ellis she was the Music Director at Fort Valley State University. Her Belief in me lead me to opening up for 2 Chainz, K Camp, Yo Gotti, Rich Kidz and many more while being at Fort Valley. She deserves her roses I feel like I still owe her till this day. Shoutout to Sobeitmagiazine for giving me my first opportunity to be in their World Wide magazine during my years in college. This Exposure really helped me and my career elevate more than I can imagine. Last but not least Dj Jammin J belief in me to invest in me as my personal Dj we would throw parties in my hometown on weekends during my years in college which helped teach me so much about the business world and about life. If it wasn’t for these experiences I wouldn’t be who I am today. GOD knows I wouldn’t! GOD is Awesome!!!!
