We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Fields and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always felt a strong desire for autonomy and control over my own destiny. The traditional 9-to-5 job, with its rigid structure and limited earning potential, never truly resonated with me. I yearned for a path that would allow me to break free from these constraints and pursue my own ambitions.

Even as a young teenager, I embarked on the typical career trajectory, creating a resume and entering the workforce to earn a living. However, a deep-seated feeling persisted, a sense that there was something more fulfilling to be achieved. I was driven by a passion to discover and pursue my own unique purpose, rather than simply contributing to someone else’s dream. This unwavering belief has propelled me to start my own business, where I can shape my own future and truly make a difference.

What should our readers know about your business?
As the founder and CEO of Menbers Only LLC and author of A Yellow Rose Grew from the Mud, a memoir detailing my journey through adversity, I’m passionate about redefining men’s self-care and mental health. I’m committed to breaking down societal stigmas and addressing often-overlooked aspects of men’s well-being. Although my primary focus is on empowering men, inspired by my son and the desire to shape a better and safer future for him, I aspire to inspire everyone I encounter. By sharing my personal experiences and offering practical advice, I hope to create a ripple effect of positive change, encouraging individuals of all genders to prioritize their mental health and overall well-being.

My journey to entrepreneurship has been marked by challenges and triumphs. Growing up in Harlem, I didn’t have the traditional resources or support system. However, this adversity fueled my determination. I learned through trial and error, embracing failures as opportunities for growth.

Two key principles have guided me: perseverance and personal agency. I believe that if something is meant for me, I won’t give up, and I am the architect of my own destiny.

While challenges persist, I’ve come to realize that they are an integral part of any successful venture. By confronting and overcoming obstacles, we strengthen our resolve and deepen our understanding of ourselves.

My brand and my story are a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of mental health. I’ve learned that by cultivating self-awareness and challenging limiting beliefs, we can unlock our full potential.

Ultimately, our origins don’t define our destiny. It’s through our actions, mindset, and unwavering commitment to our goals that we shape our future and build the lives we truly desire.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Truthfully speaking, if I were to play tour guide for a week-long visit from a friend here in ATL, I’d have my work cut out for me. Even after eight years in this beautiful city, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of what it has to offer. Atlanta is a vast city with endless possibilities.

I’d definitely take my guest to some of the city’s green spaces, such as Piedmont Park, Central Park, or Grant Park. Stone Mountain Park is also a must-visit for a scenic hike or leisurely stroll.

Atlanta has so much to offer in terms of fun, interesting, and exciting people, places, and things. While I haven’t experienced everything the city has to offer, the places I’ve visited have been consistently impressive.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandmother was the cornerstone of my life. Her unwavering spirit, infectious optimism, and relentless dedication shaped the woman I am today. As a young girl, I witnessed firsthand how she navigated life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Her unwavering faith and compassionate heart inspired me to strive for excellence. Though she’s no longer physically present, her legacy continues to fuel my passions. Her example taught me the power of perseverance, the importance of kindness, and the value of living a life of purpose. Her enduring spirit lives on within me, driving my ambitions and guiding my every step.
