We had the good fortune of connecting with Quanella Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quanella, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
Considering I was a teenage mom, one of the most impactful things I did as a parent was to make sure my children understood it’s ok to ask for help. I showed them you don’t always have to be strong, and that your mental health is very important. By seeking therapy and healing, I demonstrate to my children that it’s okay to acknowledge feelings, seek help, and strive for personal growth. I also made sure to APOLOGIZE to my children and show them the value of accountability and humility. It teaches them that everyone makes mistakes and that it’s important to own up to them and work towards making things right. This can foster open communication and trust, encouraging them to express their feelings and concerns.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I’m the proud owner of AskNannyQ, a comprehensive Nanny and Doula service dedicated to supporting families through various parenting stages. My role extends beyond traditional childcare; I am a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and lactation coach. This multifaceted approach allows me to cater to the diverse and evolving needs of parents and their children, providing a holistic support system during some of life’s most important transitions.

What sets me apart from others in this field is my depth of experience and my commitment to continuous learning. In 2023, I had the opportunity to publish four journals and even authored a parenting book, further solidifying my expertise and passion for this work. I’m incredibly proud of these accomplishments as they reflect my dedication to educating and empowering parents and helping them navigate their unique journeys.

Getting where I am today required hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to consistency. The path was far from straightforward; numerous challenges were along the way. However, I overcame these hurdles with the support of a fantastic therapist and life coach and encouragement from my family and close friends. Their belief in me was instrumental in pushing through tough times.

Throughout this journey, I’ve learned invaluable lessons. Perhaps the most crucial is to bet on yourself and honestly believe in your capabilities. This mindset has propelled me forward and enabled me to create a brand that resonates with parents seeking support.

What I want the world to know about AskNannyQ is that it was founded to assist parents with all their childcare needs. We aim to provide services and a community of support, guidance, and education. I aim to empower families, making their parenting journey smoother and more joyful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day 1: Arrival and Welcome Dinner

First evening will be spent welcoming my friends with a home-cooked dinner. The menu can be up for discussion, but the protein will come off the grill, no matter the weather. I’m also all about ambiance, so we’ll light the fire pit up the backyard, and enjoy a relaxing evening catching up under the stars.

Day 2: Exploring Senoia

Morning: Start the day with brunch at Pretti Plates Brunch Bar while walking around Main Street in College Park.
Afternoon: Stroll through downtown Senoia, exploring the quaint shops and boutiques. Don’t forget to check out some Hallmark movie filming locations!
Evening: My husband and I are bartenders, so we’d like to host a casual dinner at home, perhaps cooking a new recipe together, and enjoy some good conversation.

Day 3: Outdoor Adventures

Morning: Plan a leisurely hike at a nearby park in Peachtree City.
Afternoon: Visit a local winery for a tasting session. Many vineyards in the area offer beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere.
Evening: Bring the party back home. Hire a private chef to prepare a gourmet dinner, allowing us both to enjoy exquisite cuisine without the hassle of cooking.

Day 4: Cigar and Hookah Night

Morning: After a relaxing breakfast at home, head to a local café for coffee.
Afternoon: Explore more of Senoia or visit nearby attractions.
Evening: Head to a local cigar bar to unwind. Afterward, invite friends for a hookah night on the patio with drinks and good music.

Day 5: Arts and Culture

Morning: Visit a local art gallery or craft shop.
Afternoon: Attend a workshop or class together; whether it’s pottery or painting, it’s a fun way to bond.
Evening: Host a themed dinner at home, and enjoy a movie night outside under the stars in the backyard.

Day 6: Relaxation Day

Morning: spa day at home with DIY facials and relaxation.
Afternoon: Enjoy lunch and take some time to read or relax in the backyard.
Evening: Fire up the grill for a barbecue dinner again or hibachi in the backyard with family and friends. Set up the outdoor TV for a movie night under the stars with some smores.

Day 7: Farewell Brunch

Morning: Prepare a farewell brunch at home featuring a mix of breakfast favorites.
Afternoon: Spend some time reminiscing about the week over drinks and relax before saying goodbye.
Evening: If time allows, take one last stroll around the neighborhood, soaking in the charming vibes before my friend departs.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
