Meet Meredith Featherstone | Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meredith Featherstone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith, how does your business help the community?
My intention for Enlightened Esthetics is to remind people to slow down, be present, and prioritize self-care—whether for their skin health, well-being, or both. I’ve created a space where individuals can come to decompress and feel revitalized after their visit. Many people get caught up in constantly ‘doing’ and forget to care for themselves. It’s essential to fill our own cups before we can give to others; otherwise, it can be draining on our energy.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been working as an Esthetician since 2011. Before attending school, I had always loved makeup and skincare, and I realized I could turn this passion into a career that helps others with their skin.
Over the years, I became more aware that the beauty industry often profits from people’s insecurities, pushing the idea that they need to “fix” themselves to meet societal standards. I worked in environments where I felt restricted in expressing my creativity and knew I wanted more. Last year, I had an awakening where I realized I wasn’t living the life I wanted, but rather one that was shaped by others’ expectations. I wanted to create something meaningful that allowed me to express myself and share my gifts with others.
Making this change was challenging; I had to confront my fears and process my emotions. However, I intuitively knew it was the right path. I worked on overcoming my limiting beliefs and reprogramming my mindset to focus on thoughts that support my growth. I clarified my vision for starting a business: to serve others with my gifts and create a positive impact in their lives.
This led to the creation of Enlightened Esthetics, where I take a holistic approach to improving my clients’ skin health through non-invasive treatments, helping them build confidence and age gracefully. I prioritize relaxation in my facials, incorporating soothing techniques like facial massage and gua sha to relieve tension. Many of my facials also include an upper body massage to help calm the nervous system and reduce stress.
What sets me apart is my incorporation of crystal healing and sound bowl meditation into my facials for those who wish to focus on their overall well-being. I assess which chakras need balancing and intuitively place specific crystals to facilitate energy flow. I send loving and grounding energy to unbalanced centers and may offer suggestions for daily practices or have clients pull an oracle card to encourage reflection and self discovery.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d suggest starting with a bike ride along the Beltline, stopping at Ponce City Market for some delicious food and drinks on the rooftop. Since I love spending time outdoors, we could go for a hike by the river and then relax at a local coffee shop. To wrap up the weekend, we could check out an ecstatic dance event for some fun and movement.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been fortunate to have so many supportive people in my life who have helped me reach where I am today. It truly feels like a collective effort involving my family, clients, friends, and mentors. Each person has inspired me in their own unique way. Surrounding myself with uplifting and optimistic individuals has significantly enhanced my life, and I am extremely grateful for that.
