We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Blanco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
There is always a fear of not being good enough at something you are unfamiliar with. Regardless, I always find myself learning, discovering and improving the most when I challenge myself, and it is incredibly rewarding every time. Looking back, moving to Georgia from Puerto Rico when I graduated highschool was a scary jump. Back then, I was crossing my fingers I made the right choice. There was an unknown factor of weather or not I’d have a place to live and be able to financially support myself, or if could be a better actor by making this desicion. But now that I’ve made the jump, it isn’t so scary anymore and if anything, it is the best desicion I’ve made so far! I have met some amazing people along the way and have had never ending learning experiences every single day!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up, I would get together with my grandpa and we would make art together. He taught me how to work with ceramic, mosaic, acrylic and oil paint, and sketch art with different tools. It was a way for us to bond. And on the other side, I’d get together with my brother and prepare performances to showcase our family and friends. Very early in life, I discovered my love for the visual and performing arts. With the help from great mentors over the years, today I’m happy and grateful to be a working actor on a never ending leaning journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Just three months ago, my friend took me to visit ‘Ponce City Market’ for the first time and I was amazed, it is such a great place to eat different foods, meet different people and shop from the most creative stores. So I would love for more people to visit and enjoy all those things too. Another awesome place is the ‘Georgia Botanical Garden’. I was taken there as a birthday surprise because I love all sorts of plants. My favorite part was when we visited the tropical rotunda. You could hear the puertorican “coquies” because they created a perfect living environment for them which gave me a lot of nostalgia. I also love visiting different parks around the city to run and study!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My life partner, Tommy Bolanos. He is an incredibly talented actor. I met him only a month after I moved to Georgia. When I first moved, I was unsure on where to start with my acting education and he led me into the right direction. He is a very driven and motivated person, always striving for more and always encouraging the people around him. I grew admiration for him and began striving for more myself.
