We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlo-Andres Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlo-Andres, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because I believe in the transformative power of art, particularly music, to inspire and bring positivity to the world. Since a young age, I’ve had a deep longing to contribute positively to society and foster a sense of unity and understanding among people. Music, for me, is not just a career choice but a means of spreading messages of hope, love, and empathy. In a world often filled with disharmony, I see music as a universal language that transcends boundaries and connects people on a profound emotional level. By pursuing a creative career in music, I hope to play a small part in fostering world peace, one song at a time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my journey, passions, and aspirations. What sets me apart from others is my commitment to authenticity and storytelling. I believe in creating music that not only sonically captivates but also resonates emotionally and intellectually with the audience. I strive to evoke a sense of connection and provoke thought. My music makes one feel as if they are floating through the cosmos.

I’m most proud of my ability to evolve and adapt creatively. Each project I undertake represents a new challenge and an opportunity to push the boundaries of my own creativity. I find excitement in exploring new techniques, materials, and concepts that allow me to express my vision in fresh and unexpected ways.

My professional journey hasn’t been easy. Like many artists, I’ve faced numerous challenges such as self-doubt, financial constraints, and navigating a competitive industry. However, these obstacles have been pretty good lessons in resilience and determination. I’ve learned to embrace failure as a steppingstone to growth and to view setbacks as opportunities for innovation.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of perseverance and patience. Building a career in the arts requires dedication, persistence, and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt. Surrounding myself with a supportive network of mentors, peers, and collaborators has also been instrumental in overcoming challenges and achieving success.

What I want the world to know about me and my art is that it’s a reflection of my commitment to making a meaningful impact. Each song carries a narrative that speaks to universal themes of identity, society, and the human experience. Through my art, I aim to inspire dialogue, provoke introspection, and foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
My brand and story are not just about creating pleasing music but about contributing to a larger cultural conversation. I hope to leave a lasting impression that transcends the boundaries of art and resonates with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Ultimately, my goal is to leave a positive mark on the world through art that challenges, uplifts, and connects.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although my best friend is no longer with us, if they were visiting Atlanta, I would want to show them the most meaningful and memorable experiences. Our week would start with breakfast at Waffle House. That was our go to breakfast spot. In the afternoons, we would stroll through Yellow River Park, where we often found solace and joy in nature. Evenings would be spent enjoying dinner at one of our homes, reminiscing about our friendship.
Another day would be dedicated to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, a place we talked of visiting together, followed by a picnic lunch by the lake in Piedmont Park. Our evenings would be relaxed, dining at Park Tavern and reflecting on our adventures.
Day trips to places like Stone Mountain Park, where we would hike and take in the nice views, would be filled with stories and laughter. We would explore the vibrant neighborhoods of Little Five Points and Inman Park, indulging in local cuisine and exploring unique shops. Each moment would be a tribute to our friendship, filled with the places and experiences we cherished most.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents played a crucial role in shaping the morals and values that guide me as a creative individual today. From a young age, they instilled in me the importance of integrity, empathy, and perseverance. They encouraged me to explore my interests and supported my creative endeavors, whether it was drawing, playing sports, or playing music. My parents nurtured a sense of curiosity and open-mindedness, exposing me to diverse cultures, art forms, and perspectives. This broadened my creative horizons and fueled my desire to create meaningful work that resonates with people from all walks of life.
In essence, my parents not only provided a foundation of strong morals and ethics but also fostered an environment where creativity could flourish. Their guidance continues to influence my approach to creativity, reminding me to strive for authenticity, compassion, and the ability to positively impact others through my work.
