We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
How there were other children and families that wanted to experience the learning my children have experienced. Many families would prefer to homeschool or even a smaller connected learning environment but the fear behind taking the leap is what stops them.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the founder of a creative hands on STEAM based learning microschool in Columbus,GA. I hold a Ba in Sociology, MA in Counseling Psychology and Graduate certification in Child Education. Being where I am came with a lot of uncertainty. It was not easy by no means. Being uncertain if this was what families wanted and needed for their learners. It turns out that Academy of Creatives is just what families wanted! Throughout the journey of opening up the microschool, I have learned how the educational services my school provides is just as exceptional any prestigious big private school.
I love the family connections I have. Academy of Creatives is not just a school but a learning environment where we team with families to provide an exceptional transformational learning dynamic. We are small but we are mighty! I want the world to know that this was all a vision. Through homeschooling my own children and allowing them to learn outside of the box it led me to create an entire environment for other learners to experience the same joy for learning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You can never go wrong with Downtown Columbus by the river. Although I am not native to Columbus,GA, I was born and raised in Southern California. Downtown Columbus was the first place I really enjoyed with the variety of eateries, sitting by the river, fishing, and over all enjoying the outdoors.
I love the outdoors! You can never go wrong with sitting by the water. It’s such solitude. I also love history. I’d definitely recommend going to the reimagined Columbus musuem.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This was a difficult question to answer as I’ve made so many valuable connections with many educators and educator network groups that have made this edupreneur experience so worth while.
