We had the good fortune of connecting with LaMonique Wyatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaMonique, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I remember being in grade school when we started doing arts and crafts. One day, we made paper-mâché vases for Mother’s Day. I can’t tell you what had me so excited, but when I say I was over the moon! I couldn’t wait to get home and show my mom what I’d made for her. Since then, I have always been excited about creating. I absolutely LOVE working with my hands. From DIY home projects, and homemade body care products to personalized gifts and crafts, gift boxes, baking, and photography — quite the variety, I know! That is why I started LaMo Creations, lol. I’m excited to explore more creative passions. The joy I feel when bringing an idea to life is unmatched, and it’s what inspired me to pursue a creative career.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! First and foremost, I am forever grateful to my parents, who have always supported me and tolerated all the different ventures I have explored in search of my passions. I’m certain they had many questions from time to time, lol, but their support was everything.
Secondly, I feel incredibly blessed to have a community that believes in, encourages and supports me whenever needed. Whether I express my struggles aloud, or they simply notice that I’m not at my best, they are always there, pushing me and cheering me on. When I’m not at my best, they allow me the space to process and reset. I could not ask for a better tribe.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Photography and baking have been my most frequent creations among the various ventures I’ve explored recently. I love capturing moments and expressions that my clients never knew existed, allowing them to see themselves in a new light and boosting their confidence. And when I deliver a cake and see the awe in my clients’ eyes as they recognize their vision brought to life, and later hear them rave over how savored it was, that’s what excites me and makes me proud. Creating something that brings others joy makes it all worthwhile. I put my whole heart into each of my creations, no matter what it is.
It’s not been an easy journey, at all. I am where I am today because of my faith in God. My faith has guided me through challenges and continues to do so. I have learned, and am still learning, patience and the understanding that things often won’t go according to my timeline. I can’t force things to happen, but I know that when it’s my time, nothing and no one can interfere with what is meant for me. I’ve also learned to rest. If you need a break, take it. It’s up to you whether it’s voluntary or not. Burnout is real. Rest and reset—you will not miss what’s meant for you.
I want the world to know that LaMo Creations is a unique, multifaceted brand that blends creativity, passion, and a variety of personalized services. We offer baked sweets, lifestyle/branding photography, gift boxes, handcrafted body products, and DIY crafting. I am committed to delivering memorable and tailored experiences to my clients’ needs. My tagline perfectly captures the essence of my business: LaMo Creations – Crafted with Passion, Captured with Creativity, Savored with Sweetness.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary -say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc. In your view what are some of the most fun, interesting, exciting people, places or things to check out?
We’d start by having a late lunch at Thrive, then head to Ponce City Market to explore and do a little shopping, finishing the day with a sip and paint session. One morning, we’d have breakfast at LaMo Creations—lol—I love making breakfast! Later, we’d head to The Battery to check out an event or two and grab lunch. On another day, I’d book a mobile candle-making workshop with my girl at CandleScape Co. Later, we’d enjoy dinner at my favorite spot, Davio’s, and finish the evening with a nightcap at Moonlight, overlooking my favorite city.
