Meet KINGDRUMS

We had the good fortune of connecting with KINGDRUMS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KINGDRUMS, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The habits I feel helped me succeed are consistency and studying! Being consistent in this industry is like a golden key in my opinion. Knowing that people can trust you with an assignment or vision can and will go a long way. Also studying about my craft and the business is essential as well because the sound and ” wave” are always changing and evolving so you have to stay up to date with what is popping.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a music producer, I honestly don’t think that it’s about what sets me apart from others, more so about the connection that I make with the people that I’m being introduced to. Um, I think I’m most proud of just the path, you know, I’m saying it’s taught me to enjoy the process. It’s taught me to embrace each step and not rush to get past a certain step. Some things take less time, some things take more time than others, but I think it’s most important to slow down. And so, I kind of pride myself on being able to be present in my present, if that makes any sense. I’ve got to where I am professionally today simply by just taking risks, or I love to say just taking jump shots. If I can speak in basketball terms, I think that is most important, to take risk because without it, it simply put its no reward. And so, I got to where I am by, you know, being consistent, cultivating the relationships that I’ve created over the years and just staying the course. And by all means, it was not easy, life happens, but one of the things that helped me overcome the challenges of life is prayer, my faith in God. I think that is a major, major part in how I remain sane, how I remain grounded. So yeah, I think my faith actually help me overcome a lot of challenges, mental challenges, which is like I would say 80% of it. I think I would like the word to know that I’m just a producer who just loves music. I’m a producer who just loves good vibes. I’m very hard worker. I am very diligent, I’m very consistent.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Man, oh man. If I had a friend to come visit, I’m a very introverted person, so I don’t go out a lot. But you know, we’re probably do some golfing, maybe Top Golf, you know, I mean, maybe, go get some drinks here, there, maybe catch a live show. I definitely, definitely would, you know, make some things interesting, maybe make some things fun. But yeah, like I said, I don’t go out a lot, but if I had a friend to come visit, I definitely would maybe go visit a theme park or something like that.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout out to my big brother and mentor Travis Greene! I don’t think I would be where I am today if it wasn’t for the examples the advice, mentorship and wisdom he has given me. A large part of my success today is because of him.
