Meet Danyelle Davis | Jewelry Designer & Attorney

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danyelle Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danyelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have made and designed jewelry since I was about 7 years old, but as I got older I noticed it wasn’t a lot of us (black people) within the jewelry industry. I often dealt with being stereotyped when walking in to jewelry stores throughout the years. After being fed up one day, it hit me that I needed to turn my passion into profit and break down racial barriers at the same time. This all lead to what I have now, Dan’s Ice Bar.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am no where near where I want to be. I have big plans for Dan’s Ice Bar. However, it was far from easy to get where I am now. I had to educate myself about jewelry and focus on how do I bring great products and still make a profit which was a huge struggle in the beginning. I stepped back and revamped everything including where I choose to bring my products. Along the way I learned that knowledge is key, being prepared is even more important and treating your small business as if it’s a Fortune 500 company will carry you along way because it is not going to be easy! My brand is all about bringing you the finer things in life but also making my people feel comfortable a top priority!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is funny, most people that know me know what I’m about to say. I was born and raised in Atlanta so the Coca Cola Factory is our first stop. Then whatever festival is happening down here because Atlanta always has a festival. Lastly, I would wrap it up at Pasha, please go if you’ve never been the lamb chops will change your life!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my fiancé, family and friends. They honestly kept me pushing, starting and owning a business isn’t easy. Sometimes no matter how unique or great your products are, they just don’t sell. They never allowed me to give up and somehow always knew what to say.
