Meet Rodie Headen | Entrepreneur & Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodie Headen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
God is behind my success of my brand. I fasted and prayed for direction during my process and every step I took was ordered by him. The best is still yet to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel what sets me apart is that hair and beauty has always been my ministry. I started doing hair at the young age of 11. I have developed so much thru this industry. At age 25, I have 10+ years of experience of doing what I love.
Im most proud of how far I come since I first started in my professional journey. I’ve been the student, I’ve worked as an assistant, I’ve worked for free or little to nothing. Of course, it wasn’t easy but it was worth it. It was in those moments, I learned my most valuable lessons.
I am the owner and co founder of Headen Hair. Headen hair serves as an umbrella name. Headen hair is an informal magazine created to pay homage to black hair stylist and salons that served as pillars of our community. It is also a hair salon studio for the most luxurious natural and extension hair services.
In conclusion, I’m more than thrilled to invite you on this journey. Headen hair will be available for pre-order this Juneteenth. 06/19. Subscribe to be the first one in the know! Www.HeadenHair.co

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city to eat at is Gochas breakfast bar , jack pizza and wings, Binkys ATL, Buka 2, Ike’s cafe & grill and Anatolia cafe.
My favorite spots to drink / party at would be Jamerican Lounge, Dreamz Atl, Bonfire Atl, local wine & RnB festivals, rum punch and any hookah bar.
While in Atlanta though, I would recommend seeing centennial park, the aquarium, Mercedes Benz stadiums, the battery, the beltline, Atlantic station or just taking a train or bus ride to a new place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out a special friend named Rezia Hayes for believing in me and helping me with everything I’ve ever needed during my process. She is also one of the best photographers I’ve ever met. She has been the best right-hand man along this journey.
Another person who deserves recognition is my daughter Esa. She is the reason I’m so goal-driven and helps me to persevere. I grew up with my mom facing financial issues and I am committed to breaking that generational curse with her.
