We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Altidor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jon, how does your business help the community?
My business helps the community because that is the reason why I am in real estate. I am in position to help people become first time homeowners. Even if it is not their first time, I am able to use my gifts to help them achieve their real estate goals, whether that is buying, selling, or investing. Growing up as a first generation Haitian American, I never had the opportunity to grow up in a house. So for me this is personal. I want to give people the same excitement and feeling of achievement that my wife and I felt when we became homeowners.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my Real Estate business apart from others is that every skill that I have learned over the years I am able to use them all to be successful. I have a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I use those skills when I am helping people with their Real Estate needs. I am able to understand them better and help them throughout their journey with my interpersonal skills. I also am an avid photographer and videographer. I am able to use those skills to promote my business and not have to outsource any of those needs when I am helping a client sell their home. I got to where I am through prayer and persistence. I have been trying to get into Real Estate for years, I just found every excuse to not do it. It was not easy for me. I had to take the 75 Hour course twice because after the first time, I let too much time lapse before I took my exam. Even know, being new to field, I get discouraged at times because I am not getting a lot of transactions, but I remind myself that I am running my own race and that success will come if I remain consistent.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the city for the first time, we’d have to go to Slim and Husky’s for some pizza in Mechanicsville. That “Nothing but a V Thing” pizza is built different. I would swing by Hotlanta wings. We’d also have to go to the Third Spot or The Battery. After a busy work schedule, I would want to get into some sports. The last place i’d visit is Top Golf. I’ve been perfecting my swing lately so golf would be a win. I would watch some local sports, preferably basketball. The weekend would end with us attending LIIV Atlanta Church!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my wife, Rhandi Altidor. She has been very supportive even before I became licensed in the field. I worked on my Real Estate class online and throughout the process, she was nothing but supportive. Even after she gave birth to our second son Eli last summer, I was in the hospital finishing my online course! After I finished my course and took the Real Estate exam, she was there the whole way. The first time I took the test, I failed by 12 points. You know what she did? She helped me find different ways to study to fine tune my knowledge through YouTube videos, Kahoots, and Quizlets. After I passed the second go around, she wrote me a card and gave me socks to where at my first closing. I couldn’t have gotten here if it were not for her support, and for that I am forever grateful. I love you babe.
