We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanice Kyei and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanice, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue a creative career because even as a child I’ve always thought outside of the box when it came to solving different situations that would arise in my life. I’ve always been a person that made a way when something seemed impossible, my critical thinking skills have allowed me to do so.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The main things that set my business apart from many other businesses in my area is that I am very understanding and easy to work with when it comes to scheduling and setting aside time to answer current and prospective clients. I’m most excited for the potential of growth that my company can have in the present and the future. I’m still a work in progress when it comes to learning all things business when it comes to ownership, management and finance, its not easy but I’m always looking to make improvements by learning from others in the same situation as myself. One key lesson that I’ve learned along this journey so far is to be transparent when it comes to communicating with clients. They are human just like you and nine times out of ten will understand and respect you and your business more if you are straightforward with them. I want the world to know that I take pride in my growing business and I am truly passionate about doing hair and making people feel beautiful or handsome in that manner.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was coming to Atlanta to visit we would start the week with going to downtown Atlanta and going to the World of Coca Cola and the Georgia Aquarium. For breakfast we would go to Breakfast at Barneys’, this is the best breakfast/brunch spot in downtown Atlanta. Then we would head to midtown to go to Piedmont Park and to the Botanical Gardens to see the beautiful displays. Then for lunch we would go to Politan Row at Colony Square so they can have multiple options for dining. Then after lunch we would go to the Interlock to get drinks at the Holiday Bar. While at the Interlock we would go to Puttshack to play mini golf. To end the evening we could dress up and go to the Capital Grille at Perimeter Mall to have a top tier fine dining experience.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother , partner, friends and family all contribute to the reason I decide to continuously put my best foot forward when it comes to becoming a small business owner, aspiring loctician and hairstylist.
