We had the good fortune of connecting with Muhaymin Luckett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Muhaymin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I just wanted people to see my work. Ever since I wrote and directed my own written piece and put it on stage, I knew this was something I wanted to do. So I brainstormed of ways I can do it and on a bigger scale and that’s when I thought about just filming it. After I filmed my first project “Shady Business “ I went on to create an entertainment business company called “One Vision” and started writing, producing, and directing my own work

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hello, My name is Muhaymin Luckett and I am a filmmaker. I started my film company out of my desire to bring my stories to life. I am most proud of the journey I’ve been going through as a solo filmmaker who does everything from behind the scenes including directing, sound , lighting and writing. I take pride in the progression that ONE VISION has been through.

I got to where was today because all I simply wanted to do was tell my story the way I wanted to be told and do it my way. From a playwright to a screenwriter, I found that through filmmaking, it was possible to share my art to the world in a more affordable way. Now my stories are being seen by 200k + people and more.

My journey wasn’t easy but it also wasn’t impossible. It did take a lot of trail and error, going and learning from YouTube university and taking a dream and making it happen. In everything you got to start small. “Don’t wait, Create” was definitely a motto that drove me to creating from using a $100 camera to investing in $3000 worth of equipment to see my vision come to reality. Throughout my journey, I learned that your first couple attempts are going to be bad. My first script was bad, my first film was bad, the sound doesn’t sound right etc. I learned that in the process, not only will your product become better, but also your visions will grow larger as you see what you truly can do.

My brand and Entertainment Company, ONE VISION is going to tell a story have how every idea you have starts in your head, and how it takes patience and hard work to for you to see your vision come to life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the big city of Atlanta. The name speaks for itself and many ways. If my best friend who was new to ATL wanted to come to the greatest city in the world, first if he/she was hungry, I would take them to BlU Seaford. Hands down one of the best restaurants I love in ATL, besides it’s already great seafood, I would tell them to try one of the best Mac&Cheese dishes in ATL. It’s a Must Go. If they wanted to drink and hang out and have fun, I would recommend the Battery. It’s a big social hubs with Bars and clubs and entertainment. Also me being the artsy guy as I am, they should also come to the Underground. They meet once every Friday of each month. It’s kind of like arts showcase. People who draw, rap, Sing, poetry, comedy and even filmmaker’s gather and share their art.
I’m also apart of this creatives group called COA ( Coalition of artists) where they meet every Wednesday someone shares their written work or short film and everyone gives feedback and suggestions. It’s a great networking event too if you want to meet other creatives and build yourself up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank and give recognition to the Theatre Department at North Carolina . Thanks to them, I have a greater appreciation for acting and storytelling. I like to also give a shout out to Playwrighting Professor Amy Daluz. Thanks to her, I have become a way greater writer. I have improved by leaps and bounds thanks to her teachings which allowed me to create better stories for my company
