Meet Ayana Aura | Singer & Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ayana Aura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ayana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a career creating music because I realized how much I loved writing. Music has become therapeutic for me since I first started writing at the age of 7. Most of my songs started with the word “ baby” in it when I was young lol then I started writing again at 16 and 17 and just realized how good I Was getting at it. Then came the studio seasions which I was clueless about but when I first started to record, the studio became my happy place.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would say everyone is influenced by similar people or things. I’d seperate myself by saying I’m more influenced by god, conversations with friends and family. Love influences me, heartbreak influences me, money influences me. I have a variety of things that influences me, movies even. Or even a simple picture on pinterest could influence my music. Everything is a storyline. Music by far is one of the most bittersweet journeys I have been on. I don’t indulge myself on trying to figure out how I can get famous, or how I can seperate myself from other artists I just simply be. I pray and I simply just be myself and let god do his thing. I love coming up with new artistic ideas and just letting myself think freely, I want people to know that music is never the end on your journey you can do whatever you want in this life. Start a business, get into real-estate. Find other ways to support yourself and your career. You can do whatever you want. It’s your life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was visiting the area I would definitely take them to the beach here in my town maybe a restaurant named Yamato, expensive but really good food and the cooks, cook your food in front of you. I would also tell them to get this drink called blue Hawaiian it’s soooo good, I think it has coconut rum in it but it’s very sweet and barely taste like alcohol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to give recognition to Elijah Waters & Shyheim Banks who both taught me the love of music and the hustle and grind that comes with it. I was very greatful to be apart of the group we all created back in college. I’m still very appreciative of them wanting me in their music group and just staying up recording and writing and teaching me ways to write and letting me have full control of my own creativity. We all also opened up for Bowow together and It was a time I’ll never forget.
