We had the good fortune of connecting with AJ Ware and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AJ, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“You have to be odd to be number one.”

This quote reminds me to stay true to my authentic essence. No matter how awkward or weird I can be, the only way I can honor myself and my career is to be honest to who I am. If I do that, God will put me into the position to succeed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an actor. I’d say my outlook on life in general is introspective and how everything is interconnected. I use that same outlook when I do script analysis. Each character and scene has specific details and my goal is to figure out why. Why are things the way they are? Why am I the way I am? Diving deep into the why of things drives me into focusing on the details of a script and life. It allows me to bridge a connection from my personal life to a character in a script. In doing all that repetitively, I learn more about who I am and it allows me to have a more authentic connection to the audience. Thats what acting is all about to me, the connection of life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If you like being outside, Atlanta has so many different things you could do. Piedmont park is the most prominent but there are multiple parks you can venture off to. The belt line has many places you can find some grub just walking on the trails. I always liked going to Atlantic Station because there are so many stores and restaurants to choose from, they also have a really nice movie theater. Ponce City Market, Chattahoochee Food Works, Your Third Spot are all great places to visit. Botanical Gardens is a great first date spot to get to know one another.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give thanks to my acting coach, Angela Davis at ACTher studios, for continuing to increase my acting knowledge and skills over the past two and a half years. I’ve also I would like to give a shoutout to all my family and friends who have supported me and helped me grow as a person and actor.
