We had the good fortune of connecting with Madeine Coffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madeine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Limitless. I wanted to be in control of how much or how little money I make as well as hold my self accountable. I graduated from Georgia State with a pre-med Bachelor’s degree in Biology, tried a few jobs that paid very little, and wanted my freedom back. Starting my own business meant that I was in complete control of my time, efforts and mission. My business allows me to educate my peers and help change their lives, its meaningful. It’s not just doing some job for some company.

What should our readers know about your business?
I got my Real Estate license in December of 2017, sold my first home in September of 2018 and used my first commission check as a down payment on my first property. I was introduced to many different programs, such as Invest Atlanta, that help first time home buyers get in houses by awarding grant money to those who qualify. This was the key to success for me in my first year- I sold 10 houses! Mostly to my friends, who are now able to use the equity they’ve earned over the years to pay off debt, upsize, move to a different location, or renovate their house. In my eyes- this is the biggest accomplishment!!

I am most proud of 100% of my business being based on referrals. I do not pay for leads, I do not believe in cold-calling, and I do not go door-to-door as a salesperson might. What I do is provide the best service and take and educational stance which each client. We are not taught how to buy a house in high school or college, we are not taught how to use other people’s money to our advantage. But I teach each and every one of my clients the benefits of home ownership as well as how to protect themselves during the process.

I love what I do because each transaction presents a unique problem to solve, a unique situation and its my job to bring my client to the closing table in one piece. I learn a new lesson with each closing, whether its the foresight to take an extra step of caution, preparing documents a certain way, or learning a new rule set in place by mortgage lenders.

As of 2022, my partner and I have also started a second business, Atlanta Fidelity, LLC. Atlanta Fidelity specializes in consulting those who are eager to learn about how to tackle the real estate industry from an investing standpoint, obtaining the proper documentation for your business and qualifying for specific loans to get started with your first investment!

My goal is to help as many people as I possibly can because the knowledge I have learned over the past 5 years has certainly changed my life and I want to share!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Day 1-First stop would be the Eastside Beltline to my favorite restaurant, Beetlecat for oyster happy hour and a walk through the city towards Piedmont Park. The Beltine is a wonderful place to people watch and really take in the culture of Atlanta.

Day 2- check out East Atlanta bars and have dinner at SoBa, a delicious, long-standing vietnamese restaurant.

Day 3- hopefully a Monday, Karaoke at CHAIRS in East Point, they have pool tables, amazing bbq, and the karaoke scene is a great representation of Atlanta- cultures mixing in perfect harmony brought together by music.

Day 4- Lunch at Park Tavern and a walk through Piedmont Park for more people watching

Day 5- Coffee and breakfast at Little Tart in SummerHill, then late lunch at Estrellita for Fillipino food right off Edgewood Ave.

Day 6- Shopping at Perimeter Mall (we dont go to Lenox anymore because there’s too much going on!) and Dinner at Ecco in Buckhead for tapas and amazing pasta!

Day 7- off to Gwinnett for Korean BBQ at 9292 and Jeju spa to complete your Atlanta trip!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My community!

Jumping in to the real estate game in 2019 meant that I needed to create and bring in support from my peers. My peers, my friends, my clients, past co-workers, people who have trusted me with the biggest financial decision of their lives! But I’d also like to shoutout my fellow Atlanta Realtors, Throughout the years, I have come across some of the best Agents and learn so much from each and every transaction. The women I have met and the many lunches we’ve had talking about business and how to level up and help more first time home buyers!

My circle, the support is never-ending. Thank you to everyone who has given me grace and allowed me to start over when it got rough. you gave me the strength to never give up!
